Hello @msakande!

If you use mobile pages, then you can have a mobile page to any cloud template. You can find and edit them in the Cloud Templates or while you see the pages in frontend: https://www.screencast.com/t/cI3kmlNrcklY

Thank you!

Hi,

You can use mobile page/templates, but for page speed please check this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/slow-my-webiste/
If you want to make the website boxed, you need to have set a background image/color from Theme Panel -> Background => https://i.imgur.com/i2qlhzX.png and Theme Panel -> Theme Colors => https://i.imgur.com/h808nlK.png and enable the option to make the background boxed layout. Select the row on the header and footer and set the option for “Row stretch” on Default => https://www.screencast.com/t/I7lDMXJjiwZ -> https://www.screencast.com/t/O8cc7n4ZzIc

Thank you!

On the desktop view, we decided to display 10 elements ( sections).

On the mobile view, we decided to show only 1 out of the 10 elements ( sections) to optimize the viewing experience and speed ands google score.

When we inspect the network, to our surprise, your theme is loading ALL images on the mobile, even for elements that are set to display only on the desktop view and not on the mobile view. The size of the page on the mobile site should be one-tenth of that of the desktop site, and yet the size of both are exactly the same.

Why is your theme still loading in the background elements that are marked as hidden? This is far from ideal.

Are we missing a setting?

FYI – We are not using your mobile theme as it did not work well for us.

Thanks for the help. Also I want to know creating Mobile themes of the below mentioned templates will create any speed issues or slow down the HTML page?

Hello Lindsey!

I’ve tested your website on a mobile and all seems to work normally. Did you solve the issue?

Thank you!

Just removed a image optimizer and added the EWW image optimization – in the settings i was looking for the lower two options via the point 3 you mentioned above –
Web P Conversion & JS WebP Rewriting

However in the new or current EWW – it shows under WebP Conversion it shows:

WebP images are served automatically by Easy IO.

I have Easy IO turned on – but is there anything else I am to do.

Thanks

Also – as for image sizes on mobile / desktop – if i have a category x – and have single post template – is it possible to make it so the image always shows as a x wide by x tall image?

I installed an IE compatibility plugin (NS Ie Compatibility Fixer) and it solves the problem, but looks like it is not very compatible with the Theme since the mobile page functionality is lost and all mobile devices show inherited responsiveness, so I uninstalled again.
I have read that IE/EDGE and WP are not good friends…

1. The tool mobile page, is only for pages and not for categories? When I am in a category page or a category template the option to add a mobile page is not visible, only in pages like home.

2. URLs for image adds when inserted via tagdiv composer sometimes disappear after “save”. I have a header banner in mobile which link would not work and reverts to the same page. Tried to delete and add it again and the same happens. The sidebar banners work good in mobile. If I implement it through mobile page works good, but that is only valid for the home, and not for the posts and categories…(see my first question), so I ended up using a mobile page for home and the rest of the responsiveness was inherited (at least the link works on home page).

Hello there,

I managed to fix the filter now, thank you.

But I’m still struggling a bit with the text. It is an excerpt, yes.

I suddenly realized that I don’t use a mobile page at all. It is just the desktop version displaying on the mobile.
But, the excerpt is fine on when viewing on a mobile: https://imgur.com/a/MfRiqg7
But when viewing on the desktop it gets a bit curled up: https://imgur.com/a/adlbnSM
I think this has to do with there not being enough space for the meta info to display? Do you know how I can change this? I’m using a Flex bloc 1.

Thank you!

Hi,

I am receiving a fatal error when anyone clicks on any of my product pages on their mobile. Also, images will not show on mobile. It looks fine on the desktop. I cannot tell if it is something that I incorrectly installed or if it is an incompatible plugin. Would you mind taking a look at it and advising me which steps I should take next?

Thank you!

Hello @crodexter!

Please check this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/ ; Some screenshots where you can change the image sizes: https://i.imgur.com/OYxNzc9.jpg ; https://i.imgur.com/UpGKfGv.jpg
Please note that these settings are not available for the standard templates or Mobile theme plugin.
Regardless of image size used for featured images, the theme will create thumbnails from them. These thumbnails will be loaded, not the full image. Still there are methods to optimize the thumbnails, see point 3 in this guide for example
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Thank you!

Hello @jozef !

From what I can see in your screenshot, it seems that you use the Mobile Theme plugin which can overwrite the design you build for your mobile view. If you deactivate the plugin, then it will show the responsive version of your desktop.
We have 3 options of mobile versions that you can use:
1. Responsive version: A responsive version of your website is looking similar like on desktop, edit the page with TagDiv Composer, click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB ; there you can see your mobile version and you can edit the elements there.

2. Mobile pages: https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/

3. Mobile theme plugin: The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with its own templates/design for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. For more details, please take a look here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ and https://forum.tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-introduction/

A full explanation you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY

You can choose to use which one is more affordable and useful for you.

Hope that helps you!

Thank you!

Hello @crodexter!

Normally, the featured images from normal posts have the same sizes. Also, they have same sizes after you activate the mobile theme plugin. When you upload the images, you can choose the sizes how you’ll like to display for the featured images.

Thank you!

Hello @iamratnesh!

1. From my point of view, if you don’t use the Mobile Theme plugin, then there is no reason or benefit from AMP. But, it shouldn’t cause any problem like that.
2. You can choose on which page you need AMP: https://www.screencast.com/t/9grHVdJK8sIs
Please provide a video which is clear, so I can understand what you mean exactly.

Thank you!

Hi,

You can create a new mobile page, and now with content, and delete the mobile page which is blank -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/ -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY (03:11 – Mobile Templates & Pages)

Hi Anamaria

I accidentally didn’t select ‘copy content’ when I created the mobile page. Is there anyway I can undo that and copy with content? Now the mobile page is blank.

Anamaria
tagDiv Staff

Hello,

1. Please edit the mobile version and check the header logo -> https://i.imgur.com/JuZt5kB.png and try to change it.
2. The background color is set on the Row on the content -> https://i.imgur.com/QOpz5Lj.png and the background image is set the Inner Row -> https://i.imgur.com/QpiM0Yr.png
3. On the row is set a margin-bottom -> https://i.imgur.com/LmMxrBs.png you can remove it or set it to 0.
4. Select the viewport on mobile and delete the featured image -> https://i.imgur.com/dxJO81Q.png
5. You need to do the same like for 3, you need to remove the margin-bottom for the above row -> https://i.imgur.com/SG8OxqU.png

Thank you!

Hi,
Unfortunately, the file can not be set in child theme and for the moment it is the only why you can edit the mobile menu, sorry!

Now, if will be to set the code in the theme header.php file, I think that will be triger this file wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/header.php (our theme has 3 header.php files, but if the tagDiv Standard Pack is not installed and you use a cloud header, the above one will be use). Just copy the file from there in child theme (Newspaper-child/header.php) and set the code in that file, it should work properly.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hello,

Is it possible to set fixed featured image size on mobile?

<div class="td-post-featured-image"><img width="696" height="364" src="https://example-domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/example-image-title-696x364.jpg" alt="" /></div>

I can’t get Largest Contentful Paint less then 2.5 and LCP element is featured image

Thank you
