Hi Bogdan,
I tried installing the JS composer the way you suggested, as soon as I do – I lose access to the site again.
So I then have to remove the JS_Composer directory to get back into the site.
I did also increase WP memory limit and php memory as well.
It was all working fine previously until I did an update via WordPress update panel on Sunday.
cheers
Hello,
I have already done the above. All plugins were removed and the issue still exists. And I thank you for the warning, but photon has corrected the issue. Was there an update in WordPress that changed the way images are cropped? Because The issue only started after the last update. It refuses to use my images (THAT ARE WELL ABOVE THE MINIMUM DIMENSIONS) to fill in the entire space of the home page block images and the grid up top.
I have tried regenerating images, and I will not use the “force” version as it tends to break images. I cannot afford to fix 5000+ posts.
What is the underlying issue here?
Hi I just updated from Newspaper for to 6. I deleted the old theme, I uploaded the new one. After all I did run the import script but is does not seem to work. all my sidebar widgets are lost, and old short code still seem to be there instead of the new ones. What am I supposed to do?
Bogdan,
thank you for the update. I appreciate the response but I was curious, do you know what would cause this? Conflicting function names, variables, ect???
Hello cstibi,
I have added this suggestion on our list of improvements but we cannot say for sure that in the next update this option will be implemented because this is decided only by our developers. We have a big list of fixes, improvements and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though. Until we can do it, you can use the solution above.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi
This is a known issue which is already on our list but we couldn’t find a solution yet. Theme developers will continue to investigate this and when they will find a fix for this issue I will update this topic.
Sorry for any inconveniences and thanks for your understanding!

Hello Larane,
I have added your request to our list of improvements and in a future update it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though. Until we can do it, you can use a plugin.
Thank you for your suggestions!
Hi,
We have fixed this fb social counter issue in latest theme version, V 2.3.5 and latest version of the social counter plugin, so please make sure you use the latest version of the plugin, V 3.1 and that you configure the fb counter like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial/ Also you have to use the lates version of Visual Composer included in theme path, V 4.9.2: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
You can make sure you use the latest version of the plugin by removing it then install it form theme’s > plugins section: http://screencast.com/t/W0nHgyA1US and for the theme log into your themeforest account then go the downloads section, you find the latest theme version there, download it and update it using the update guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thanks!
Hi
Theme’s developers works on the new update but I can’t say for sure how much will take until will be finished. We do our best to improve theme’s performances and the required customization take some time to be implemented. Also we must do lots of tests on different browsers and also different.
All these take a bit of time and will take a while until the next update will be released.
Thanks
Hello ldquocbinh,
In order to achieve best results, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. After you have done this, please consult the guide below and then check your social counter and see how it works.
1) Please make sure you have the latest theme version: 6.6.5. If not, you need to follow this guide to update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
2) Having the latest version of the theme is not enough if you do not update the social counter as well. You need to remove the current version you use: http://screencast.com/t/4jvRwNzK and then install the version of the plugin that comes with the 6.6.5 theme: http://screencast.com/t/9AKKURjTjX
You can recognize if you have the correct version of the plugin when you see the new app key settings: http://screencast.com/t/CIXxklBanNl If you do not have these settings in your social counter it means you do not have the correct version.
3)You need to follow this guide to get the requirements from facebook:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial-2/
Please keep in mind that the social counter is not a live count. It will update once every few hours.
Once you followed all the above steps properly and made sure you have not missed anything, (and the social counter still does not work), then you can send an email to contact@tagdiv.com with your login information so we can further inspect the issue. Also, please provide the link of this topic so we can know who you are and what the issue is.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the message!
Not sure if this has to do with WordPress or Newspaper, but I noted a strange thing. While editing individual post setting https://gyazo.com/0e3d62f1f50b69054865e704547b8286 if I click on a different template and Preview changes and leave the page *without* clicking on Update, the new setting becomes permanent. To ensure it wasn’t due to cache, I went back and forth and seems like there is an issue. You may want to look into it. Thanks.
Hi there,
since trying to update my site with the latest version of VisualComposer, my site renders redundant and returns an HTTP Server 500 error. The only way I can revert is to switch themes.
cheers

Just a quick update. I managed to fix the problem by ENABLING Photon by JetPack. Odd!
Um… go to your account on themeforest; go to downloads.
List of products you have purchased.
For the Newspaper theme, click the download link, and from the drop down, select “all files.”
This will download to your hard drive.
Open the zip file.
Find the plugins folder.
Open the js_composer zip, upload the folder to your plugins folder.
You can subscribe to update announcements for the theme by checking the box “alert me about updates” or whatever it says on the download page next to each product you bought.

also see:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
e.g.,
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
I took this to mean that any “hand-holding” support would end in 6 months meaning you can’t get a personalized answer to your issues in the form of an email or phone call.
Don’t forget not every developer has a forum or even communicates that well unlike TagDiv where the supplemental support has really been fantastic. (A major reason why I chose this theme.)
I have themes that I purchased 5 years ago and I am still entitled to the updates, as it should be.(and I commend those developers for even continuing updates since the web is a much different place than it was 5 years ago.
TL;DR Even if support ends you still have access to theme updates.
Like many, I too have problems with 7 days post views in combination with cache (WP Super Cache). In my case seems to me that “post views” and “7 day count post views” are reversed. In some of my posts 7 days count is bigger than all post views. And yes, I did turn on ajax post count on theme panel.
As I could read here there are a lot of problems with this, and still no good solution. Before using WordPress i was using Joomla. They had simplier approach to this. Popular in last 7 days meant post published in last 7 days that at that time has most hits. In that way you have your newest popular posts listed nicely, and I believe that this would be easier to implement in coding theme.
Can this be done in this theme, maybe in next update?
Hi, folks
I was only sharing the info for those who were not sure what was going to happen, what the cost would “actually” be and so forth.
I will say that for some users, they *should* pay for another 6 months of support if they can’t learn to read the WP user manual on WordPress.org, do a Google search, or learn how the internet works. Too many folks on Theme forums expect a theme developer to “train” them for free on how CSS, HTML, and WordPress works, which is outside the scope of the product.
Also, if the theme continues to be developed and updated based on suggestions — basically developing an entirely new theme — it’s not unreasonable to expect some monies coming back to the developer to do that work ($15) for an update that took hundreds of man hours, doesn’t seem unfair. Especially when a person who already built their site, decides to change it a year later then wants another 10 support topics worth of help to redo the site again — all for free.
That’s like coming back to a furniture store 5 years later and asking the furniture store to resand, repaint, and restore a used table (for free). I guess some furniture stores do that, but none that I’ve seen.

Hey tagdiv team,
It’s always a pleasure that we are using your full support on Blogrope.com
We actually don’t have any idea why we still see our (social counter) facebook widget 643 like on the right side.
Blogrope likes more than 1,300 on facebook page
Could you please help us out! how to update this widget
Thanks Emil,
Do you have any news on when you plan to release an update that’s compatible with the latest version of Woocommerce?
I feel it might be a waste of my time searching around for a solution if there’s an imminent update?
Many thanks
Dean
Hi
We’re sorry for for all this inconveniences.
There are many alternatives to control the video’s layout according with it’s aspect ratio but all this involve custom code.
The videos layout it’s entirely controlled by javascript and works like this:
– first read the width of the container where video it’s displayed then set apply a 100% width to the video. For example if the container have 980px width the video will also have the same width.
– second step it’s setting up the height. This value It is obtained by multiplying the width’s value with 0.5625 for videos from vimeo.
This value can be changed anytime but this will affect all videos, no matter what aspect ratio they have. For example by changing the value like this: http://screencast.com/t/eesYaBhn9d I get this results:
– for a video with aspect ratio 4:3: http://screencast.com/t/uq7e9Nu9G
– for a video with aspect ration 16:9: http://screencast.com/t/CiuMxuf8fD You can notice in this screen that by changing the value these black bars will appear on videos with 16:9 aspect ratio. The default value, 0.5628, display correct 16:9 videos: http://screencast.com/t/OzkY7zgx but affect others.
With this informations I intended to point out that by changing the current implementation such that to display the correct videos with 4:3 aspect ratio, will be affected other videos layout, respectively the ones with 16:9 aspect ratio.
A possible solution would be to use only videos with 4:3 aspect ratio and modify the indicated value to 0.7625: http://screencast.com/t/eesYaBhn9d Other solution would be a custom code which calculate the rapport between width and height, and depending by that result apply a specific style such that the black bars to not appear on videos.
This is the complex task which I refereed as are required many investigations and tests in order to obtain best results for videos.
We certainly plan to improve this system in the future updates. I’ve added this on our todo list and when the time comes our developers will consider it. This may take some time because we have a long implementation list and we take them one by one.
I hope you will find this information useful and I apologize again if I didn’t make myself quite clear from the beginning.
Thanks!
Hi all,
Like we answered before regarding the envato support license, we don’t plan to restrict the access on forum and we still continue to answer all questions in the same time frame like we did until now, of course in limit of the support policy (we offer assistance and provide fixes for all issues/bugs related to the theme). If something will be changed we will announce in advance, so don’t worry!
Also to clarify one thing, if your support license expires, this doesn’t means that you cannot download the theme anymore. This is not the same thing, you will have access to unlimited theme updates.
Everyone is free to have an opinion regarding the envato support policy. We don’t (want to) comment this.
I hope you find this helpful!
Ah ok. I certainly hope it will be in the next update. Thanks.

Hello dwcp,
I have checked your Whatssup icon and I saw that this not working…it is so strange. Please ensure that all the files are updated correctly…I suggest doing an update again or also you can replace only the icons folder -> http://screencast.com/t/6pmwFBb7 from our pack and see if your problem is still there. Also, I saw that you have an error in your console -> http://screencast.com/t/jsljaNMnoIh…please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for the message!
Hey Chris,
All mine have expired for multiple sites, including 4 instances of the Newsmag theme.
Over 3 Envato accounts I have over 100 themes, to think that I’m going to have to give Envato or the theme developer $14.70 every 6 months for however many themes I have just for the privilege of downloading updates is completely out of order.
I don’t make any money on my sites and it already costs a fortune to mess around with this stuff when you add in domain renewals, hosting and all the rest.
I’ll be happy to take my business elsewhere if that situation arises on Envato.
Having said all of that…. I have had 3 themes with expired support that pushed updates in the past 4 days and I’m still able to download the updated files for those themes.
I think the support ideas is a cynical con trick by envato to scare the inexperienced into buying something they don’t need, it’s tardy actions like this that now has me moving away from buying products through Envato if I can possibly help it and going directly to the theme developer/coder/artist/musician/videographer etc.
Whilst I appreciate that support can take a huge amount of time to run, it’s part of the game and if your supplying a product ie a theme, you really should support that if you are a reputable outfit such as TagDiv, I had noted in one of the replies on the Newsmag theme comments section that support would continue in this forum regardless, again, points to the fact that Evato are just trying to charge for something they don’t provide and I can still post in the comments section even though support has supposedly ended, it’s completely ridiculous.
Coming from a background of owning a furniture manufacturing company in the UK for 25 years, I can tell you that I would never supply a product and then try to monetise “support” which is in my eyes comparable to a guarantee that the theme will continue to function properly over a given time period, I’m not even sure what they are trying to do would be legal under UK consumer law.
I love to support TagDiv but I’ll buy another theme from them thanks or make a donation rather than be forced into buying something for nothing. Let’s be honest, there’s no option for extended support on the TagDiv website (as far as I can see) so how can it be solely for the benefit of TagDiv?
I appreciate that it’s a great service and you are very right to commend the efforts of TagDiv and rally support for them and the extra income that people buying this “support” would generate but until someone comes along and tells me that I’m not going to get updates unless I pay then I simply won’t pay. If it becomes a demand I’ll just find another theme. (that’s not directed at TagDiv, just Envato)
Cheers
D
