Dear Team
I am trying to build a home page and use slide and when I choose it and update, the slide does not update and is not shown on the page I am trying to build.
is there an issue with slide?

I have been running my site for about a year now and am in the process of migrating to Newspaper. I really like the “Post Count” feature display, but many of my posts have thousands or tens of thousands of views, and so I would like to update the numbers in the database to be accurate, rather than starting from zero on the first day I launch the redesigned site.
Where in the database is the post count field, is it editable, and are there any things to watch out for if I was to attempt to change this?

The current version of Visual Composer plugin available with the theme, V 4.9, is tested and works fine with the theme. Please make sure that you updated the theme and the Visual Composer plugin according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ Also make sure that you empty all caches, deactivate all others plugins except Visual Composer and test again. You also can try to make a new local install on your computer, with the latest version of WordPress, the theme and Visual Composer, then check if the problem persist.

Unfortunately, I do not understand very good what you want to do. Please provide more details about these changes, a screenshot would be more useful (as before the update and how you want to be after update). I need to know these details, so I will able to provide you a more accurate response.

Unfortunately these errors were caused by wordpress 4.4 and were fixed in the latest version of the theme. You will need to update in order to fix them. Please update your theme via ftp and check again. It could have been a temporary glitch. You can also try it without plugins and clear cache to rule out a plugin conflict.
If the problem is still there after the update and after you disable the plugins, then please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can take a look. Also include a link to this topic.

Unfortunately we have not tested the new version of WP with the old version of our theme. It could create a few issues with your version as it did with version 6. We fixed the errors in version 6.6.3 but we cannot say for sure how it will affect newspaper 4. The best thing to do is always keep your theme up to date as WP and plugins get updated regularly and sometimes fixes are required and we cannot make fixes backwards compatible as well.

In the “how to update” guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings, will change the shortcodes. Unfortunately you will have to re-add your widgets in the sidebars as some of them may not be imported or don’t exist anymore, also they will become inactive.

If you use child theme for files customizations it’s a good practice to check update_log.txt file for each update and see what files had been modified so if those specific files are used in the child theme you will have to check your customizations to not break the functionality of the theme.

Hello,
You will have to access the files via ftp and use a text editor to add the line in the php files. It cannot be done through wordpress. You can update your theme to the latest version as this issue was fixed in the current version.

Please make sure you update the theme to the latest version and try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear your cache and reset CDN if you use it. Plugins could interfere with the sidebars. Also check your widgets area and see if you have any widgets set to your sidebar.

Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, clear your caches, purge CDN files if you used and install only the plugins that come bundled with our Theme. It is very important to follow this advice because it is possible to exist a conflict between new latest update and your plugins that you used.

Hi all – first timer on this thing!
Before I updated my WordPress and Newspaper files a couple of days ago, my site (www.maxmynorm.com) had buttons which navigated easily to the NEXT or PREVIOUS pages on each of my site’s articles.
After the updates, these buttons are now quite basic, but my biggest concern is that they are positioned quite close to the Adsense ad blocks on each page, and I know that Google are very sensitive about this sort of issue as they heavily penalise blog site owners if they think they are trying to force accidental clicks, and I definitely don’t want to do that!
I’m not a techie by any means, and I don’t understand coding issues, but I’m hoping someone can help me with a simple solution to make my buttons clearer, or at least insert more space between the buttons and the ad block.
Any help greatly appreciated!

I am using visual composer and adding big grid 4 or slide to the page but when it updates, this does not show on the Page?

Yes, what happens with major theme updates — just like changing to new theme, is that your widgets can be reset — this is a failing of WordPress, although there are supposedly some plugins that mitigate this by keeping the transient settings intact for that across themes (habe not tried).
Additionally, in some cases the widgets will still be there on the widgets page, just “inactive” and you can usually simply drag the appropriate widgets back to the sidebar panels on the widget admin page.

After a theme update (4.8.1. -> 6.6.3) there are some pages with no sidebars.
The settings are correct and normally the sidebar should appear.
Now I found out, if I deactivate the Visual Composer, the sidebars are correct shown.
If I activate the Visual Composer again the sidebars are gone again.
Where is the problem?
