For the problem with the author links, maybe the author archives are disabled in the Yoast plugin, if they are author links will be redirected to the homepage. This problem can be if you have a custom wp-admin link. Also, from what I see in the above details, it will be better to remove the theme and theme plugins and reinstall them because those may be damaged.
So, my suggestion is to connect via FTP or cPanel delete the theme plugin (if you want you can delete the theme too, and set the theme from ThemeForest using FTP/cPanel), then login via wp-admin and install the plugins from Newspaper > plugins. After that please make sure that the theme is activated (to be sure you can reset the license key and activate it again) and all the theme requirements are set correctly -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
