As far as I know, I don’t think there is a possibility that one theme will be deactivated by her self and another one will be activated. My opinion is that some one made this change.
If the theme was just disabled, then all you had to do was activating it and the theme plugins then everything had to be as before (but from what I read was not, so maybe something interfered or someone made the changes).
Now there is another possibility, it is possible to have some plugins that are interfering or maybe your host has some extra settings that are deactivating the theme and set a default one, you can ask them and they can also check the logs to see if there are some errors.

Also, if you want you can make a test without cache plugin or maybe logged in (to not use the cache) and see if is delivered the right version for the mobile.

When the mobile version is on desktop, usually is a problem with the cache plugin. Most probably you are using the mobile theme or mobile page template and the cache plugin that you have do not recognize it. Most of the time this is solving by enabling from the cache plugin the mobile support. We recommend to use Wp Super Cache plugin.

Yes, you can changed those files, the only problem is that you’ll need to do this after each theme update or filed a solution (create a plugin that will overwrite the original code).
About the changes that you’ve made, I took a look at them and I think that are ok, but please notice that adding extra code in the theme files is not covered by support team -> https://i.imgur.com/XCJNYeV.png, so in case that something is not working correctly, I think you’ll need to contact a developer to make the implementation.

If the changes are saved but after page refresh old settings are back, then it is possible that the changes to be delivered from an object cache.
Also, some times can be a plugin conflict, so you can also make a test using only tagdiv plugins.

Indeed, the tdb_single_related_author shortcode was not mapped in the cloud. This problem was solved the next day after the theme update and like you said, reinstalling the cloud from Newspaper > plugins will resolved the problem.

About the ads, I see that those are set in the post and there is no errors, but the ads width is 0px -> https://i.imgur.com/66vn2v5.png
One suggestion will be to copy the ads code from the top article ad in the inline ads 1 and 2 and see if this is solving the problem (since only the inline code is not working it can be related to the code).
Also, you can try a different single post template from cloud to is if there is a difference.

Indeed there were a few changes and now you can get the layout that you want from the cloud and you can edit it with tagDiv Composer like you want. For example on posts now you can use single post template .
In case that you still want to us the old functionality, what you need to do is to install the tagDiv Standard pack and those old templates will be display again (the plugin can be installed from Newspaper > Plugins).

The “-” from the post can be removed only using custom css. You can use this code:

}
The code need to be set in the theme panel > custom code> custom css.
In case that you are using mobile theme plugin, then please set the code in the theme panel > mobile theme > custom code> css too.
