The Newspaper theme update brings a change for the theme implementation.
When you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used.
Otherwise, you will have basic WordPress functionality, complying with Envato WordPress Requirements – https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements

If I understand correctly you want to set the “text with link” at the end of each post, for this you can use a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library, all you need to do is to edit the template with tagDiv Composer and set at the bottom of post the text you need -> https://www.screencast.com/t/l4tgywADyFnE after that all you need to do is to set the template on posts, and will not be need to make any changes in theme files

Unfortunately you can not use the WPBakery to edit the the demos, all demos and template are build with tagDiv Composer, using others builders will brake the pages.
Also since Newspaper v9.7, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used.

There is a known issue currently with single image elements used in pages built with WPBakery, when the tagDiv composer is also active. It has been identified however and will be fixed in the next theme update. Sorry for this inconvenience.
In the mean time the fix is to download this file – http://cdn.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/tdc_map.zip and replace it in the tagDiv composer

The single images will look and function correctly after doing this.

Are you using a cloud post template? If you do, note that the ad codes have to be entered in the template itself, when editing it with the composer. Click on the post content element and there will be a tab called Ads – http://prntscr.com/nlud0s
Then the ads should appear in the posts that use that cloud post template.

On the homepage you have a sidebar made with tagdiv composer and in post page you have a sidebar wich is made from widgets. In order to have the sidebar from your homepage on every page you have to add a single post template from the cloud library and edit that with the tagDiv Composer. We have had endless difficulties updating to the new Theme 9.7. It doesn’t work for us.
Found a clash (images not fitting correctly in sidebar) between TadDiv composer and WP Bakery so disabled Bakery and working good again.
Have tried turning off every plugin except TagDiv but still 9.7 theme doesn’t work.
Can I pay someone to install the new theme and get it working? Is there anyone with the skills available?
I feel like I am going around in circles.

I have instaled previous version of Newspaper V 9.6.1 because I got same errror when I tried to instal new version 9.7.

Please make sure that you have the tagDiv Composer activate, also if you have child theme, please deactivate it, also in Newspaper theme v9.7 the api plugin is not longer supported.

Unfortunately there are no settings in theme panel for this, this can be achieve only if you make some changes in theme files, for this you need to edit the td-login-modal.php from wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/parts/header/td-login-modal.php

Once you activate that setting the theme will start counting the views posts get. For this to happen the post views have to be active – http://prntscr.com/nli2rx

There should be enough setting to achieve the result you want.

I think this was some kind of glitch. I did a lot of playing around disabling and enabling plugins, narrowed it down to the time when VC and tDC were both activated. I reinstalled VC 5.7 and things are working normally now.
Just in case someone else runs into this:
Setup: WordPress 5.1.1, Newspaper 5.7.2, tD Composer 2.4 with above patch, Visual Composer 5.7
Problem: I was unable to add images in either posts or pages via any method (classic editor, gutenberg, tagdiv composer, visual composer), I could add the image element using Visual Composer, but not make any changes to the image attributes, or add or change the image itself. As I disabled plugins I found that when both tagdiv and visual composer were enabled is when the problem happened. I fixed it by deleting then reinstalling the latest version of Visual Composer (5.7).

You could begin by deactivating plugins, that would be the first step. Disable all non-theme plugins as a quick test and check if the issue is solved. Could be a plugin tat causes it – https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-not-working/
Also if you use a child theme, try to disable it temporarily.
Empty pages shouldn’t provide such an error. Have you maybe made any modifications to the page template files directly?
