- NewspaperHow to Update the Newspaper Theme
Not all files are accessible through the WordPress editor, it will require FTP to see them all, then make the modifications you want to the theme.
Regarding the CSS you mention, I seem to fail to understand what would be the issue with it. It would be helpful if you could provide a link to your website, so we can see it for ourselves.
Hello defocusmedia,
Please make sure that you are using the latest version of the theme installed via FTP way, remove all of the untested plugins, clear all the caches and check the results.
Please double check if you made the modification properly, all the code in that file has to be removed and replaced with this one

Then clear all caches, please let us know.
Thanks for your understanding!
Tried uploading the Newspaper.zip file into the ‘add theme’ section in WordPress admin and it comes up with ‘are you sure you want to do this?’ And when I click to continue, it goes to the themes page and there’s no sign of Newspaper.
So I then followed all the steps to upload via FTP. Newspaper then appears in my themes. But when I click ‘activate,’ the whole site immediately comes up with a 500 error, and I can’t even access WordPress admin until I’ve gone back into the server and deleted the Newspaper folder from themes.
Any ideas?
Here you go – https://pastebin.com/Z3Ur0xDD
Under modules, all I’m finding is the td_module_single.php template via admin panel. Would I have to look for it via FTP and edit it there instead?
Hi,
You could try re-installing the theme, by FTP if possible, that could solve the issue
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/mobile-site-not-displaying/
Do not enter any code in the theme files, deactivate the child theme as well after re-installing.
If there is still a problem, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information as well as FTP access. We will investigate further.
Thanks

@mbernloehr I have tried your Instagram ID after making the modification in the theme file. Everything seems to work as expected

how to delete this images from media?
if i click “delete” in media, refresh and images exist…
I will delete it in ftp public_html/wp-content/uploads and refresh wordpress…images exist again!
Try to install via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
We could take a look, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, as well as FTP and cPanel access if possible. Check the theme system status before
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
And deactivate all non theme plugins to exclude possible conflicts. Include a link to this topic in the email.
Thank you Simon, I didn’t see that I had to ftp to get the footer.php. I thought I could access it from within the theme panel using the custom code section.
Hi,
That is unusual, did not see that before. Try as a fist step to deactivate all plugins except theme plugins as a quick test, check if the issue still happens. If you use a child theme deactivate it temporarily. Test again.
Ultimately you could try a theme reinstall by FTP (most recommended)

If there is still an issue please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, FTP and cPanel access if possible. We will take a look.
Thank you!
Hi, I sent the ftp and loging information to your support email.
Hi, Some one from the support can help me. I change vps and same errors. I can provide ftp and cpanel.
Hi,
I provided a more detailed explanation in the topic you mention, please take a look. If you cannot make the modification for the Instagram widget, please provide admin login and FTP access on our email at contact@tagdiv.com and we will take a look. Also include a link to this topic in the email.
Thanks
1/2. You can use a child theme safely with the Newspaper theme, as long as it is the one provided in the theme package
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
What I was trying to say is to not use a different child theme name. WordPress recommends that the main theme name should be used with a “-child” append
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
Changing the child theme name may cause issues with the theme, please try not to change it.
3. We have not made any tests in the matter up to this moment unfortunately, most users who changed the child theme name have reported issues and reverted to default name to fix them. There were issues with the theme panel, multipurpose plugin etc.
4. So deactivating the child theme did not solve the panel problems. Please check the theme system status parameters
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Ask your hosting provider to increase the allocated resources if needed. Additionally deactivate all other plugins as a quick test, leave only theme plugins active. Check if this has any effect.
If there is still an issue, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login as well as FTP and cPanel access. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.
@Alicegreentree For the widget (and footer Instagram) the modification will have to be made to a theme file
– https://www.screencast.com/t/aarFvKbNg
You will have to edit that theme file and remove all the code in it, replace it with this one
– https://pastebin.com/yrr2DdwB
You can use FTP to do that
– http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-ftp-to-upload-files-to-wordpress-for-beginners/
For the social counter, you have to edit a file from the plugin. You could use even the WordPress plugin editor
– https://www.screencast.com/t/z3tpYife1J
Replace the selected code with the one provided in the pastebin
– https://pastebin.com/8p6r7TDh
Then the counter will work as before.
After making these changes be sure to clear the cache and CDN if used.
@lchfdieta The account seems to be private, the images will most likely not be displayed if the account is private
– https://www.screencast.com/t/ETwoLLF9
It has to be public in order for the images to be pulled.
@Talent10 The widget will refresh every 3 hours, so there could be a different issue. Please provide a link to your website and we will take a look.
Hi,
If you still have a problem with the composer, send us an email at the email address mentioned above and mention the necessary details, we will investigate. Provide admin
login, FTP access and cPanel if possible. Please also include a link to this topic in the email.
Thanks
So that extra parameter in the URL is added only when the tagDiv composer is active from what I understand. If that is the case we could take a look, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, FTP and cPanel access if possible. Include a link to this topic in the email.
We could take a look at the issues, as long as you made the Instagram change as mentioned there would be no reason for it not to work the same as before. Also I have tested the YouTube video as featured. Simply enter the video link in the require field and update/publish the post
– https://www.screencast.com/t/AAnngvcJkN8
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as FTP access. We will take a look at these issues. Also include a link to this topic in the email.
Install via WordPress – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
Install via FTP – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Installing the theme via FTP is the recommended method.
I’m not sure what you are saying – Do you mean the updates don’t wipe out changes?
I have backed up the site using updraft plus, and have not lost any changes that are there now – you say that for the “next update…..all of these will be overwritten by theme code” Why is the next update different?
And if I back up by FTP, and changes get wiped out, and I revert to the back-up version, won’t I loose the updates?
We could take a look, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login access, as well as FTP and cPanel if possible. We will try to identify why this happens. Include a link to this topic in the email.
Hi,
You could contact your hosting provider and mention the error to them, it may be server related and they should be able to look into it.
You could also install the theme plugins normally, they are provided in the theme package in the plugins folder
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
Install them with WordPress or by FTP, more useful information here if required
-http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/step-by-step-guide-to-install-a-wordpress-plugin-for-beginners/
Thanks
Hi,
Try with a different browser, or clear the cache in your current browser. Check if this has any effect on the issue. Also check the theme system status parameters
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
If there is still an issue, we could take a look. Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, FTP and cPanel access if possible. Include a link to this topic in the email.
