Thanks! Yes, I had social counter 3.x. After updating the newspaper theme I did not do the “manual” update of the plugin.

Please update your theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.4) and also, the latest version of required plugins (Visual Composer 4.12.1 and Social Counter 4.1), clear all your caches and test it again. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, please try to disable all of them, and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out any conflicting plugins.

I get the same Error as Anna.
As Anna I did the same procedure since Newspaper 4. (Deactivating, Delete, Install new Version).
This is the first Time I couldn´t do an Update from previous Version. My actual installed an running Version is Newspaper 7.3

Please make the update to the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 7.4) and also, please update the required plugins to the latest version of them (Visual Composer 4.12.1 and Social Counter 4.1). I have been trying to update the theme following requested steps as per below:
Step 1 – Deactivate the current “Newspaper” theme from the Appearance > Themes section by simply activating a different theme. Once you activate a different theme, delete the Newspaper theme. Don’t worry, your content will not be lost.
Issue: I am not able to delete the theme and I keep on getting the following message:
Deletion failed: The requested theme does not exist.
Can you please advise?

I`ve just updated your theme from 2.3.7 to 3.0 but an error accured:

Hi @bintmusic,
You can update without problems, no need to follow any chronology.
But yes, you lose all your custom made in the source because you’ll rewrite the files with new ones (you have to put them again manually in the new files).

@K.H.R try to update the theme at V 3.1 which is available on themeforest and also update Visual Composer at V 4.12 which is included in theme’s path. For more details about the update process please check these links: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ After the update is completed clear all caches, purge cdn files if you’re using then test the site again.

Make sure that you’re using V 3.1 of Newsmag theme and also try to update Social Counter plugin at V 4.1 which is included in theme’s path > plugins folder: http://screencast.com/t/6r2LsUUcknzb The easiest way is to install the plugin from theme’s plugins panel: http://screencast.com/t/vBuS6iueqrc Just delete the old version and install the new one, configure it according with our documentation, clear all caches then test the site again.

I know I should have done an export of my config file, but I haven’t done it. I only have a backup of db and files of my site from prev backup ( start from yesterday ), so technically I should be able to retrieve config in prev db tables if I only knew where config is stored in db. I’ve always update the wp core files and plugins to the new versions, maybe I’ve some malware in my wp site, I don’t know, I’ll check soon. I’ve already changed my admin password.

I have the same problem. I have updated visual composer to 4.12. That’s working fine. But the social counter plugin I got with the Newsmag update was only 3.2. Is there a newer update? Please give me the link to this latest update? Thanks Marina
I also encountered the same problem, the Social Counter shows only the icon of Facebook… but not update the number of fans.
Hello, When using the add “Instagram Element” , is there a custom CSS code i can use to open instagram photos and video in a Light Box instead of redirecting to a new tab?

Learn to use FTP; best way to properly delete things as you know they are gone. If you have aggressive caching running, you should disable that when doing theme changes. If using CDN, you need to poke an update.
Try using wp-optimize to clear transients in your dbase; also resave permalinks whenever you change themes to clear stuck rewrites.
I recently updated to the most recent version of Newspaper and also updated
WPBakery Visual Composer according to instructions here. Pretty much everything runs well apart from tagDiv Social Counter. I removed the old box completely and created a new to see if that would help but no.
The Social Counter display but just with a facebook / twitter icon hardly visible in white. Number of followers don’t display correctly. Weird..
I’m pretty sure tagdiv social counter it self is configured correctly.
What might I be doing wrong?

I’m trying to update Newspaper theme to the latest version. I follow the guidelines to activate another theme, and then, once Newspaper theme is deactivated, to delete it. But it won’t delete, instead giving me this message:
Deletion failed: The requested theme does not exist …
Even when I go into my file manager through my host login and delete the theme folder from the database, the Newspaper theme still shows up in my themes in the WordPress dashboard.
Also, this seems to be exclusive to the Newspaper theme, as I have installed other themes and successfully deleted them with no problems.
Anybody else know how to solve this?
