Changing "Editor Picks," "Popular Posts" and "Popular Category" for TechNews - topic

Hi tagDiv,

At the footer area, there are three headings for the TechNews theme, “Editor Picks,” “Popular Posts” and “Popular Category.” How do I rename them and how do I control what they display?

For example, I want to change “Editor Picks” to “Editor’s Picks” and I want to control what is shown under “Editor’s Picks.” How do I do so?

Adding html font tags - reply

Hi,

What I have in mind is something a little more precise than the above. I don’t want to make any site-wide changes to the fonts, I just want the option of adding a font to a single header when it is surrounded by a a html code.

I used the following for example:

<h3 style=”padding: 30px ; background-color: #f2c7b3; font-family=”pacifico”; line-height: 2;”>Header Title Goes Here</h3>

All of the above codes were applied to the H3, except the font. I must add that I actually want to use a custom google font too.

Maybe my code is incorrect? Maybe this isn’t an option?

Hi I am getting these redirects.

Search Menu on mobile or default mobile view - reply

Thanks the code works. Another question to ask. Since I put the extra menu and move the search icon to the left, is there a way to change the threshold position on the X icons so it doesn’t overlap and that I can close the screens properly. Example I open the main menu and the X is conflicting with other and when opening search icon as well. Or if possible make both the main menu and search menus swipe responsive. Swipe left/right to open close. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. Awesome theme. This is the way to the future in design. Hope there is more to come soon.

Ad Blocks on Smart Lists 1-5 - topic

When using the smart lists 1-5 (which have no specific ad block defined in the theme panel) is there a options-panel way to include an adblock? Ideally, it would be the exact same (if not the same) block as the ones used for regular article.

For example; We’d like the “Above Article” adblock to be displayed above smart lists 1-5 which don’t seem to possess any native advertising such as the other smart list styles.

We’d love to know if this is an easy option.

The authors box can be placed on any row layout you want, it will look like this example

This element is created specifically for this task.
The team member element I suggested because it is somewhat similar to the one you mentioned. This does not have specific options to display user roles like the authors box. An image must be set manually, socials and a description text as well.

4 columns on footer - reply

I have managed to set up a page to act as my footer.

1. The page has 1 row in it, but I have noticed that there’s white space both above and below the row–>https://ibb.co/dO79om ..region marked with the X. How can I get rid of this white space and have only the row I have added appear on the footer. I tried adjusting the padding from the row css tab but this does not give me a clean result across all devices.

2. I would also like the social icons to appear formatted exactly as on the footer of your website. But have it appear vertically like on this website–> https://ibb.co/b1ybZR

PS: I tried using the browser inspector but I cant make it work.

3. From the same example, I would also like to know how to add the vertical borders appearing before each column?

You can use a plugin if you want to display a custom search on the website. There are many search plugins that have advanced options in the matter. Check some of the online comparisons, such as these ones for example

Hi,

Unfortunately I have no idea how that plugin works, or why it is not working properly. The default behaviour is to create and publish posts, also to set a featured image or video for each post

Only then the theme will create the necessary thumbnails that will be displayed on blocks and modules

When viewing sub-menu, custom font for sub-menu & post title not working as main menu. I tried move a category sub-menu as a main-menu, it still not working, also.

Hi,

The top menu is not displayed on mobile by default, it could be made visible if absolutely required, with custom code (only when then mobile theme plugin is not active). It will be the same top menu from desktop, not a different menu.
Regarding the search icon positioning, I could give you a code to make it display for example next to the menu

This is the code used for that, it must be entered in Theme panel->Advanced CSS in the phones section

Or you can move it to the right as you wanted (use the value you want in the code)

These codes must be entered in the location I mentioned above, so they will apply only on mobile.

I have two questions:
1. how can I increase the number of posts displayed on category page (the number of posts per page), f.e. https://www1.banks.com.gr/category/trapezes/

Hi,

The authors box can be used on pages built with the composer, or as a widget in sidebars for example.
The team member is one of the many multi-purpose elements introduced in the 8.5 theme update. The multi-purpose plugin was made available, to be used together with the tagDiv composer. It ads many items and functionality to the builder

Or you could try some other elements that can display images, check the result with them

Most of those elements are added by the multi-purpose plugin introduced in a previous theme update. I see you use an older version of the theme, you will have to update in order to use them.

The theme by default will not display the last updated date of the posts. That could only be done with a plugin maybe, or with a few modifications in the theme files. This is a similar topic mentioning the necessary changes

Helle.
Chinese government has disabled google fonts and ajax.googleapis.com library, there is no alternative? Can fonts be used locally? For example, the required fonts are uploaded to the server.

Search function not working – redirects to homepage - reply

Hi,

@cesaroito So the pagination in the search page is not working properly for you. Please provide a link to your website so we can inspect it.
You can try as a first step to deactivate all plugins, leave only theme plugins active and clear all caching. If you have custom code added in the theme files or theme panel check that as well.
This issue can have may causes, for example in the topic above it was a server htaccess configuration that caused it. You could check with the hosting provider as well, see if they can help.
If possible try with a default WordPress theme and see if the issue is still present. Let us know the results.

Hello I am setting up an big network for a multisite. I read the post about adding a top menu on mobile view and tried it and works. My problem is that it looks tacky. MY question is if you can move the search icon on mobile view on the default layout without the mobile plugin or with it as well, To move the search icon to the left a little so I can insert another menu next to it so that I can use that space for navigation to parent sites. example. site 1,2,3,4,5,6. because as of now you can only do it by making the menu on the main page but then it loos off and then if you put a topbar it doesn’t show on mobile without the plugin

AMP Plugin Expectations and Expected Date? - reply

You can add advertising to AMP, and we do that on some sites; but also we do stuff like use a text based “related posts” plugin to inject related posts via shortcode to footer.

There is super dead simple function for the AMP plugin to ‘inject’ anything into the footer spot without touching AMP template. Trick with ads from Adsense is they need special form of java loading, but tutorials online for that. Loading your own local ads is easy, as an image or text based ad is just basic CSS. We add a text based ad for our services to bottom of the blog posts on our main site for example.

It’s work – but good to learn. We chose to stick with the ‘official’ AMP plugin, as it’s going to be most compatible with WP, not get abandoned, have bad code, etc.

Since our news sites are all news, the AMP plugin doesn’t hurt. Ad revenue is down so much we’re likely going to abandon adsense entirely this year and do local ads again instead (e.g., ‘sponsor this site… $99 per month for run of site…’ kind of thing).

If the page, logo and burger menu is located above, on a par with the multi-purpose menu, then logo and burger menus do not work (not clickable). Is there a solution to this problem? Advise, please. Thank you in advance!
