Hello stavrosgian,
So, first of all, please try to do a full backup to your data, according to this documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups to rule out the way can loose all your data from your database and then try to update your theme VIA FTP -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ because this is the surest method in this case. In the next step, you will have to disable ALL your plugins and leave just Visual Composer to active -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ (for Newspaper 7 -> Visual Composer 4.11.2), clear all your caches, purge all CDN files if you are using CDN and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. Please notice that all your panel settings were loaded in the MySQL database and you will not lose these settings. Also, if you have others customization through code, please notice that the latest update will overwrite these files and you will lose these customizations. So, if will have the backup, then you will have to re-add all your customizations for the latest update until you will achieve as you wish. Please check our change log here -> http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609 (check the bottom of the page) and there you will find what kind of modifications were made in our new update.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
I’m not sure exactly why the speed is so slow on your site, as our live demo gets a 73 score: http://screencast.com/t/6hly7k8hmA
Please try to deactivate all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Thre is something altering the results.
Please follow this topic to improve general page speed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
A note on the speedbooster plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tinymce-advanced-and-other-various-disabling-speed-boster/
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi,
This issue is caused by caching. You updated recently but the old style.css is still cached and served instead of the new file. Please clear all caches from the cache plugin, browser, a cdn server or hosting cache you might have.
As for the mobile theme, please read this topic to learn more about it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Thank you!
Hello elgade,
Please notice that this behaviour is not okay for your side and this problem might be caused from your untested plugins. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
I have tested smartlist 2 and it displays properly just like on our live demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/smart-list-style-2/
This is most likely a plugin conflict so please deactivate all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. The test your smartlist again.
Thank you!
Hi,
For some reason the css does not apply to the other titles. Please try this without plugins. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then check the smartlist again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hi,
The theme adds this css to the alt text inside the logo:
.td-visual-hidden {
border: 0;
width: 1px;
height: 1px;
margin: -1px;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 0;
position: absolute;
}
For some reason this is missing on your site. If you add this code the alt text will no longer be visible but this should be there by default. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. There is most likely a plugin that interferes with the css.
Thank you!
Hi,
These issues are most likely plugins that are not compatible anymore in version 7 of the theme. The theme got improvements especially in the speed insights. You can try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then check your site again to see the results.
If you still want the previous version, please make a request at contact@tagdiv.com and we will provide it there. Please also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.
Thank you!
Hello all,
Please ensure that you have uploaded and the Social Counter to the latest version of it (4.0). Also, please ensure that you are using only tested plugins to rule out the conflicting plugins. Clear all your caches and check again.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
Hello eyesandvoice,
If you are using the latest version of our theme (Newspaper 7.0.1) and the latest version of WordPress (4.5.2), please ensure that you have updated your Visual Composer to the latest version of this (V.C 4.11.2). The latest version of the WordPress ‘broke’ the V?visual Composer and create a lot of unknown issues which were solved in the latest version. Clear all you caches and test it again and see how it works.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
In order to fix thumbnails, please make sure you have thumbs active in the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/fzvX59kfx and then use this guide to fix them: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
For the bookmarklet, please make sure you do not have a plugin conflict on your site by disabling all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it.
As for the google analytics code, please just insert the large part of the code, not the small one. Please follow this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/analytics-entry-in-theme-panel/#post-97773
Thank you!
Hi,
The multiple issues on your website are most likely caused by plugin conflicts. If you check the search that is not working as well and that is a definite sign of plugin conflicts. Please deactivate all plugins excepot visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files (you need to clear all caches even the server cache if there is one). And check your site again without plugins to see if issues are still there. If they are, it menas that the theme was not properly updated and you need to remove it and make a fresh install.
Let us know how it goes.
Hi
That seems a css issue bu I am not sure what could cause it as the theme is tested and the menu works fine even with smart-sidebar enabled. Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches then test again. Also if you have any custom css code added in theme’s custom css filed make sure it won’t affect the menu.
If you still can’t manage to solve this please provide your site url so I can have a closer look at this issue.
Thanks!
Hi
@Mikarmano the theme is tested and works fine whit all browsers specified on themeforest: http://screencast.com/t/Nq1iN73V I am not sure why that happened on your site but it could be a problem cause by cache. If this happens again try to clear the cache then test again.
@thejourno make sure you update the theme according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ deactivate all other plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches then test again.
Thanks!
Please find below some more questions appeared:
7. how to make different posts appear on my home page. For example I have this news here https://gyazo.com/8557fb8593799d54827f59151b5fb5bc and here https://gyazo.com/02fe62d61654e8dc8d7347a42ec67ed7
8. Cache plugins. I have removed W3 Total Cache plugin according to your recommendations mentioned in the guide. I also noticed that you mentioned APC full page cache plugin. Can I use it with WP Super Cache or I should choose one of them? Which is better for me? I have 16gb of ram.
9. I didn’t get that suggestion “make sure that you have compression enabled on your site for html/js/css but not for images”. Where do I set that kind of compression? Do you mean Auto Minify in cloudflare – https://gyazo.com/771065c3f158d4b113b94c5e5f5e3e37 or something else?
10. Regarding images optimization. Is it possible to use both this plugin and the code you suggested to add in functions.php
11. Regarding speed booster. I put the code here https://gyazo.com/8805d3fabc08aee2e537cb2322079694 Then I cleaned the cache. But it seems that google still shows those files as the ones which are required to be moved https://gyazo.com/4280bc2806be16e44db9535633617d92

If You want to check how lazyloading really works
here you can
To Test If LazyLoad Working
Clear All Caches on Your Browser
Open OwlReporter
Don’t scroll
Turn off WiFi or Network
Then Scroll down
If you can see all images then it means lazyloading is not working
OwlReporter uses a thirdparty lazyload plugin its not perfect but lazyload most of the images
Newspaper theme has only a feature to animate images on load
Besides they have named it in the control panel as “Image loading – animations (LazyLoad)”
LazyLoad means loading images from server when the user is nearby the image which cut down bandwidth usage
To Test If LazyLoad Working
Clear All Caches on Your Browser
Open Your Home Page of Domain Where You Installed Newspaper Theme
Don’t scroll
Turn off WiFi or Network
Then Scroll down
If you can see all images then it means lazyloading is not working
Tagdiv must remove the name Lazyload from it
They don’t really lazyload images they just animate them
Hi
You’re still using re-sized images on modules as can be seen here: http://screencast.com/t/hXwlWHtG0 however they seems to be displayed fine on my side. A link to image’s thumb used on module should look like here: http://screencast.com/t/PYOFydsbG
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches then test again.
Thanks!
Hi
That happens because of a custom css added for header row: http://screencast.com/t/idhotcUyn5Qt If you made any changes in header style try to revert theme, clear all caches then test again.
If you still can’t manage to solve this use this css in theme panel > custom code > custom css: http://screencast.com/t/C96Dp9KclzJ
.td-header-row{
visibility: visible!important;
}
Thanks!
Hello vipcomm,
Please notice that our theme was fully tested in this regard before to be released and you should not have these type of errors. As you can see, the problems appear on your side and probably is caused by your settings.
So, first of all, please try to do a full backup to your data, according to this documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups to rule out the way can loose all your data from your database and then try to do a fresh install only VIA FTP -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ because this is the surest method in this case. In the next step, you will have to disable ALL your plugins and leave just Visual Composer to active -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ (for Newspaper 7 -> Visual Composer 4.11.2), clear all your caches, purge all CDN files if you are using CDN and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins and if you are using the Child theme, please try to switch to the main theme. So, please try to bring the website to the default settings to rule out all the potential errors which could appear when you customize your side.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
It would have been so nice but that does not solve the problem. Even with all plugins off the issue remains.
And my staging site on WP Engine has no cache, no CDN.

BTW: Switching plugins off (and on again) deleted my Theme Options setting for category background color.

Thank you.
Hello webcrit,
Please notice that if you want to display your Top menu for your mobile theme, it is not possible because the top bar container was removed to mobile theme layout. So, in other cases, it should appear as properly. Try to clear all your caches and test it again.
If you problem is still there and if you need further assistance in this regard, please provide your website URL so I can inspect it closer.
Thank you for your understanding!
