Is the problem specific to the homepage? Does the rest of the website display properly? Edit the homepage with the composer and check if the content is still there.

The update will not erase page content, everything should be as before. Very important to clear every cache installed and CDN as well if used. If you use a child theme, temporarily switch to the main theme. Deactivate all third party plugins if possible, leave only them plugins active. Let us know the results.

Sorry for this inconvenience, there should be no problem after updating to the latest theme version as long at is made properly (FTP recommended) and theme plugins are updated. Problems can be caused by third party plugins or maybe child themes (switch to main theme if you use one).

There are many differences between the latest theme version and version 8.0. The tagDiv composer has received a huge amount of new features. The multi-purpose plugin was introduced which adds more options in the composer and theme panel. Also now there is AMP support and a Newsletter plugin. Theme now also supports PHP version 7.2 for increased performance.

Visual composer (now WPBakery Page Builder) has not received any updates, the latest version is 5.4.5 which is included in the full theme package (plugins folder)

That issue you are having is most likely caused by having the tagDiv composer activated. This composer is activated by default when the theme is installed or updated. Please deactivate it from the plugins section and check the results.

Do not edit pages built with Visual composer, with the tagDiv composer. If you want to switch to the tagDiv composer, create new pages entirely with it. You can also deactivate the tagDiv composer and keep using Visual composer. It will still be provided in the theme package and updated.

I suggest you make a new clean install from scratch with the latest version of the theme via FTP way, clear all the caches and check the results. We recommend using the TD Composer which is our page builder. Please keep in mind that WP Bakery plugin has been fully tested on my website and it seems to work as expected, without any problems. I suggest you to make a new clean install from scratch to another sub-domain via FTP way, leave just to active only the Visual Composer and try again to drag and drop your desired elements from page builder. Should work because this was fully tested. Clear all the caches and check the results. If the problem will persist, you should provide some useful screenshots with the problem. Some also display excerpts and read more buttons. They do not display view counts, or like counters. That could only be done with module file modifications or maybe plugins.

If you want to use Visual composer, deactivate the tagDiv composer. When both are active there could be issues. Also check the allocated resources

If you decided that the Newspaper theme is not suited for your needs, you could request a refund and we will approve it. Then you can purchase the Newsmag theme. You cannot switch one purchased theme with another.
