2) If you use a slider on your homepage or any other page, you need to make sure you have enough posts in your category (more than 1) for the slider to display. If you use a big grid slide, you need to have at least 8 posts and make sure you set it to more than 4 posts, otherwise it will not slide as it will only display the first 4 posts: http://screencast.com/t/NXxY3NZN

You can select the featured category for posts and then use a visual composer block to filter this category. This way you can have featured posts appear on your homepage. If this is not you mean, please provide more details.

It looks like my category pages are responding to the settings, but my homepage is just one big long list of posts.
First off to say… best money I have ever spent. I have been setting up projects with WP templates for years and finally see that it is worth paying.
A couple questions from someone novice to this theme for website http://www.livingtosmile.com:
1. I don’t understand categories and after a couple hours of trying, all of my posts just appear in one long single column on the homepage. How do I snap the posts into grids by category?
2. I activated the slider, but I do not see it on my site?

I’ve been trying to add a html widget (with an autosize function) inside one of my columns (1/1) on the homepage and I get mixed results. With autosize, the width fills up but the height stays narrow not showing the full chart. If i were to replace the “autosize” and input with actual “widths” and “height” then it wont autosize on the mobile version, being too big too see on your phone.
So the main problem is getting the chart to show up on the mobile version of my website without it being too wide to see, and then also being big enough for those desktop viewers. The only way I can see this working is if I can have it on autosize but somehow find a way to increase the default widget box css height but how?

Or is there a way to disable the mobile version of the newspaper theme so everyone redirects to the desktop version no matter what?
Hi Chris. Thnx for your reply. I just fix it by deleting some posts in my homepage.
This was the issue about “cloaking” if you remember. Because my homepage had a large size of html and google couldn’t crawl it.
This is fixed. I have a question, about after setting a preferred domain.
I finally fix it by putting a 301 redirect code in .htacces. SO my question is this:
Does I need to put rel=canonical in my html also, or is enough only by redirected code I already put it, in order google to know that mo domains are the same?

I’ve just bought Newpspaper 6 theme, and i’m building my homepage.
However, I can’t find the slider that is used in the magazine style homepage (http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/homepage-magazine/)
The only two demo sliders that I have found are ‘newspaper.politics’ and ‘newspaper.wedding’.
Does that mean that I need to build by myself the slider that I’m requesting?

I am running the newaspaper theme on http://www.1-2-family.de .
Now I am thinking about switching to newsmag.
Reasons are simple:
Our magazine is just a magazine (including news) but first of all it’s a magazine.
But: Is it possible to switch and import the styles and options from newspaper (with the import function)?
And what about things like visual composer built homepages and stuff like that? Will newsmag recognize this?

Let me try to explain a different way.
The read more tag will only work on module 15. Our theme uses modules and blocks. Blocks are simple containers for 1 or more modules. The module is the basic structure of the theme elements that display posts on a page or category archive, …etc. You can see how blocks are created using modules here: http://screencast.com/t/NpZhgQaafW5j
There is only one module where the more tag will work and that is module 15. Any other module will ignore the more tag. Unfortunately module 15 cannot be used on pages. Only on category archives and wordpress templates where you can use modules directly without the use of content blocks: http://screencast.com/t/LyqkFkgnC
On your homepage you cannot have module 15 unfortunately, but you can controll the excerpts in different ways. You can either select the length for them for a particular module from here: http://screencast.com/t/zz485MYMThM or you can assign a custom excerpt for every post in post edit like the screenshot above: http://screencast.com/t/hwZcmrCykl (you will have to type in the excerpt)

I have an odd problem and can’t figure it out.
Anytime I go to add a background image to a block on the homepage, the image does not center, it aligns on the top of the block.
Here is an example of the big slide block with a background color :

@mlgallant Well if the option does not stay selected, that is the reason you do not see featured images. Please try to clear your cache after you change the setting and make use you increase the system status parameters according to this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ If you still cannot get the option to stay selected, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can inspect it. Please re upload your images in the media library. edit a post and remove the featured image that does not show up and upload it again. Do the same for the logo and your ad in the header. http://screencast.com/t/WwLgJ0UB55j
Most of your posts do not have a featured image set so you can only see the placeholder image on your homepage.

I am using Newspaper Travel theme in my website.
As shows in the demo, there are 3 blocks on the slider of the homepage which is created using Block 5 feature of Visual Composer. The blocks are showing 3 posts. Is it possible to show 3 pages instead on the blocks?

Hello again. I did nothing last days. I have only changed some of my category/pages descriptions and names, and the main description of the home page, also the h1 names on the homepage.
Maybe that’s why is happened, because since last my changes google crawl hasn’t come to visit my site?

2. I assume that that you want to display different ad-spots according with the post type displayed. To achieve that you will need a condition which check what post type it’s displayed and depending by result display a specific ad. Here is an example for header ad: http://screencast.com/t/4e9sKBons This is just a basic example about how can you check what post type it’s displayed and manipulate the ads according with the result.
You can create new ad-spots following the solution offered in this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-add-more-custom-ad-spots/ and use them in your post types.

Hi, I have found in RevolutionSlider, that have to insert this code at the end of child theme / header.php:

Using single side is the same than a static image (I have tried, it’s ok)
There is an insert code to insert slider into frontpage: <?php putRevSlider(‘slider_alias’, ‘homepage’); ?>
What do you think, is there a php code with insert slider into all pages, but no homepage?

If you are referring to the block text color, that can be set from visual composer, but the category tags will remain the same: http://screencast.com/t/DyIvZguRbOo

Unfortunately, the subtitle field is not available in the Visual Composer. The subtitle is for posts only. It’s a field that can be filled on every post, but this option is not available in the Visual composer. Our modules and blocks do not display the subtitle by default.
