Thank you for the follow up. Perhaps I was not clear enough. I’m hoping to add icons for the mobile menu only. The above code would add them on the desktop view as well. Also is it possible to have a different icon for each mobile menu item?

I need to be able to let users request the desktop version of my site if they choose to. My plan was to recompile the less-files included and excluding responsive options for desktop-version of the site. Which files do I need to exclude to not include media-queries etc and forcing a desktop version to CSS?

@akobryan I get your point but we can’t totally forget about page speed or the size of page loaded by the browser in favor of a nice looking layout on a specific device. For many clients the page speed is a very important factor. The page speed refers exclusively how fast your server can serve the requested page, not how fast is visitor’s internet connection. For example a page which contains only high images will have a bigger size and also the response time will be higher.
We still look for a way to improve theme’s layout on mobile and we do our best to find a middle way which somehow will fit in all situations.

Yes, I understand the situation. Not an easy deal.
But more and more, peoples use mobile devices as the unique way to navigate on internet.
Especially the young ones.
According to the place you are, the internet connection with a mobile device can be more or less fast.
So the load speed and the traffic is affected, of course.
But what a frustration to have a so gorgeous and pro looking website (because of Newsmag theme !) to see on desktop, and so poor thumbnails to see on mobile devices.
I hope your great team will find the solution in a near future !

This is a very complex task because there are many aspects that must be considered. Let’s take an image by 100x100px as example. This image will be displayed fine in a 100x100px container on desktop without additional customizations and filters for its quality. However on mobile devices the situation it’s a bit different. To display a image in a container by 100x100px without affecting image’s quality, the image must be at least by double size. That means that the image must have 200x200px to keep its good quality on mobile.
Loading big images on mobile devices is not a good practice because site’s load speed will be affected, also requires more traffic.
We still investigate this and hopefully in future updates we will come out with a better implementation. However I can’t say how much time will pass until some changes will be made as we need to find the best solution from any point of view.

Are there any options to edit the default display for mobile devices? More specifically I want to be able to show the default tablet view for phones also AND be able to specify exactly how the site is being displayed on different devices.
The default smart phone view is completely useless on a phablet. I will be an absolute horror to manually edit / change all the CSS manually. I’m hoping there is a quick solution or a master variable in the css i can change without too much work.

Please notice that the mega menu is only for desktop/iPad and for the mobile version it was thought another style for the menu. If you want to change the mobile menu, you have to do some additional customizations through code that involve custom work. If you want to change the structure of the theme in this case and you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide customization services at the moment, sorry!

I realized that I have the same problem with the low quality thumbnails on mobile/pad.
And I can’t solve it, I tried all the tips found on the forum.
Either I got error message from the server, or the quality still remains poor.
Especially, the problem is really disturbing with blocks (2, 11, 12…)
I really enjoy the great job all your team has done with this theme, really impressive.
But this problem is really different than a customization choice or the wish to add more functions.
Today, it should be natively implemented in the theme and natural to have good quality thumbnails on mobile.
And without needs to step in php files or add some external plugins.

I’m having an odd problem. In the Newsmag theme panel, I can’t seem to save any changes I make to the theme. Just for an example, under “Header” I tried to change the logo used in my sticky menu from the header logo to mobile logo. Clicked “Save Settings”, and then the ‘loading’ animation that pops up to indicate that it’s saving just spins and spins and spins. If I let it, it’ll spin forever until I refresh the page, at which point none of my changes have been saved.
So how do I go about fixing this? It’s been a while since I’ve made any theme changes so I can’t really say how long this has been happening. No idea if the recent WordPress update triggered this or if maybe it was something else.

How can we set the block title subcategory filters on the Home page? The posts appear in the correct category section, but the block title either displays all subcategories or no subcategory filter at all.
How can we set the block title sub-category filters so that they display only the subcategories associated with each category, more like the ThemeForest demo.

I wanted to find out if it was possible to import an entire mobile menu from another theme into Newsmag?
Will this affect the rest of theme quite a lot i.e. break it?
If not, a suggestion for the next update could definitely be to make the mobile menu more animated. At the moment, when you click it, it just pushes the content and loads. Perhaps it would be nice if there was an animation as it opened as more of a slide effect.
Just a thought.
What happens on mobile to the Mega Menu? I’d love to have MegaMenu on desktop view but not on mobile. Is that possible?

2.) The site is already been using the plugin for a while now so dunno how i would export my meta desc etc from the old one to SEO Yoast. Will keep it the way it is as of now and see how Google takes it.
3.) I noticed that the Top Menu wasn’t visible so I added the code which was given in the forum. However, can the social icons be hidden from the mobile since we are already having them on the footer. Also can the header menu be center aligned on the mobile? I think it would look a lot neater that way. Or is there a way to adjust the spacing in between the menus so I could adjust the font size and make them look in the center?

4)Please notice that the retina logo is only for devices that have this option, for example, Apple devices. The retina logo is used to offers you a high quality for your mobile devices while the logo mobile is a normal logo which is used for normal devices that do not have retina logo integrated. You can see, that if you sroll down, the pictures comes fluently. So from row to row it is a fluent transition. Here two questions:
a) How can I set that background image? Why is it on my other site possible and at the newspaper site with visual composer it is not possible? Although the settings are the same?
b) How can i make that fluent transition? I tried it here, bur it is not possible.

My mobile menu colour is not showing up correctly on my website.
The colour is all black and when I hover over the menu items, it then becomes white and the text shows as grey.
I would like the text to show as grey/white and when I hover it, the item span becomes white.
I hope this makes sense? Where can I change the MOBILE menu colour only?

Our demos are tested and works fine on mobile devices. I am not sure why this happens on your site but you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.
If the problem persist please provide your site url so I can have a closer look at this issue.

I have checked our Fashion demo again and the logo was displayed fine, on the mobile and on the desktop mode, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/4hoWf5m6fik Please notice that for Header Style 9,10,11, the mobile logo is not displayed in mobile version because the logo will be from the desktop. This is the style of the theme for these kinds of header styles.
