Hi,

I have a CPT for my website which I have customized and removed the featured image as discussed previously here.

I now want to modify it for the mobile version. More particularly I want to remove the feature image of a the same post as described in the previous ticket but for the mobile theme.

Looking forward to your kind advice.

Hey guys, I used the tagdiv builder to edit a template i liked, removed some things, changed some and added others and now i got a look that i like in the frontpage. But when i go to categories i get a totally different header, i know how to change the layout of the articles etc but i can’t seem to change the header? How do i do that.

Frontpage: http://www.rekomandime.com
Categories: http://www.rekomandime.com/category/dhurata/

p.s extra question: Is it bad that i linked categories to the menu urls? Like when you click on one of the menus it sends you to that category. Thanks!

edit: wow figured it out the moment i posted. I had a different header selected in theme panel > header > Cloud library template. I don’t know why that was but for some reason it was 2 different headers. It’s solved now!

Follow up question, i am not allowed to edit the categories template with the Edit Template function on the page. It gives me the following answer: “Please select tagDiv Builder Template from the theme panel or set a default template. The current page/post uses a template that is not editable.”

Dear Vlad,

Thanks for responding. The page I’m trying to import is at https://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/189635/luke-bryan-stays-at-1-for-second-week-with-knockin.

The line I want to remove is at the bottom of the article. It says << see more Net News.

When I use the developer tools and isolate that line in the code, it is not part of a small <div> tag segment. It is part of a larger <div> tag but I use that <div> tag it will remove too much of the feed.

The line I want to remove is below. I can’t get it to dispaly as code in this post.

<< see more Net News

Thanks for your advice.

Hello,

In order to remove the h1 from logo, you’ll need to use a header template from cloud, click on logo and disable the h1 -> http://prntscr.com/p5jh08 after that you need to use a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library, click on post title an set the h1 -> http://prntscr.com/p5jhp1

In the Theme panel, it seems to give you option to either completely remove tags or not. My posts show on top and on bottom, same with social icon, is there a way to just pick bottom or top?

Thank you

Please notice that the code that you mentioned above need to come from an element, from what I can see that element come from a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library from Single Post Author element that is currently hidden on your website, but this can be remove using the tagDiv Composer, edit the template and look for the “By Author Name” and delete it like this http://prntscr.com/p20prjaftar that the link will be remove from your posts.

Hi,

I changed one of my buttons for the wordpress one as explained on this page: https://forum.tagdiv.com/increase-users-engagement-add-custom-buttons-posts/

Here is the post concerned: https://www.mondeoz.com/equipement-voyage/meilleur-sac-a-dos-voyage/
The button text is “Consulter le prix du Quechua Forclaz Travel 50”, this is the first one on the post.

How can I change the hover colour for background and text? And how can I remove the border?

Thanks for your help

Another question about cloud templates.

I am adding the shortcode for the Molongui multi-author author box to the templates. (When I can; see earlier post.) The shortcode works correctly.

So, I want to remove the built-in author box in the cloud template — but I can’t find it. For example, when I assign the template to a post, I get the built-in author box above the tags, and the one I’ve added below the tags. But when I edit the template in TagDiv composer, there is no author box element above the tags.

Thoughts?

Hello @Cryptodex,

This link https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.blockdelta.io/%3famp is only for amp, this is store on google not on your website, only when the users/visitors click on the post/page are redirect to your website.
This indicate that your website have amp -> https://www.screencast.com/t/cdTey56DX4 and this will be the amp results -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ay77q1rZZRv just make sure that you are using the amp as in our documentation ( use the mobile theme with amp option https://www.screencast.com/t/bOszthO3GKrd ).

The only way to remove that link is to not use (deactivate) the amp plugin.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi

I’ve taken on job updating an existing WP ‘magazine’ site with five years of existing posts, and decided to use the Newspaper theme to update the site.

I’ve created cloud templates to use for posts as there are several different areas in the site and I wish for them to look different.

Unfortunately I’ve discovered neither the Co-Authors or Guest Authors plugins appear to work anymore. The posts’ authorships default to a user admin when viewed on a category page. I’ve already scoured through the forums here, and it seems to be a flaw in the theme design where these PIs are incompatible with cloud-based templates.

There are literally thousands of posts with author names attributed to Guest Authors, as opposed to Users. To remove a guest author from a post, and replace with a User would have to be done manually on each individual post.

It seems very odd that a ‘Newspaper’ theme can not handle these plugins, or offer any solutions to this problem.

What would the TagDiv developers recommend I do?

Cheers
Rob

Hi TagDiv Team,

I have recently encountered that the hcard entry is not showing in the TagDiv Cloud Single-Template.

I am not getting any error in the Google Structured Data Testing Tool.

Although I need to know, does it is required to present there as It is showing up in the Newspaper default single template.

How does Google see a post page that doesn’t contain the hcard structured data entry?

If possible, please let me know, How to put hcard entry in my post page structured data mark up (in tag div cloud single template).

Note: I have already installed Yoast SEO Premium that also marks up the structured data and has removed the duplicate structured data mark up.

Hi All,

I am new to WordPress and Newspaper – my main focus is databases. In a lot of the database forums I subscribe to, and as I suspect most of you know, it’s not uncommon for members to share code that creates a feature – not least because others then frequently take the initial entry, adapt it, then re-post. These sites also quite often also feature a sample code silo.

(@TagDiv Support, there’s a lot of really useful content on this forum but it’s limited navigation, layout and quantity of posts make it difficult to search effectively, not to mention time consuming. Can we have a Sample Code silo? Not only would it be useful for members but possibly limit you having to repeat the same or similar support requests).

BACKGROUND
I have a number of Use Cases that require elements on a web page to display simple listings of external editorial content – similar to a news ticker-type display but with no animation.

Initially, I decided that the TD Composer elements Blocks 10 & 9 were the most suitable – as they were closest to my required simplicity and would only be used for these Use Cases. However, the fact that there is no Newspaper option to duplicate a block within TD Composer, and I want minimal plugins installed, I decided to teach myself the PHP/CSS that would be required to achieve my objectives.

FUNCTIONALITY

  • The link here shows two page elements that have different content and features which were created using the same Block 10;
  • This involved creating new field types using ACF Custom Fields, including a post-type whose options could also be used in a PHP conditional If statement to create the variable field display within the same block;
    The generic fields are headline, media outlet and published date for simple listings and other use cases have additional meta data fields;
  • When the headline linked is clicked on it has to a new web page and go to the external content. The published date must be that of the original editorial, not the WP posting date. This last point is important as I would be bulk uploading posts a few times a week, that will feature a spread of publication dates.

The following provides the necessary ACF Custom Fields setup, the PHP code and the CSS.

ACF Custom Fields
The table below lists out the field names and their setup –

  • Post Type: Required. Field Type is “Select”. Drop down list choices are “Editorial” and “Research”;
  • Title Link: Required. Field type is “URL”. This contains the URL of the external content page. Non-conditional as it applies to both Post Types;
  • Publication Date: Non-conditional. Field type is “Date Picker”;
  • Media Outlet: Non-conditional. Field type is “Text” and contains the name of the external content publication;
  • Media Outlet URL: Required. Field type is “URL”. Conditional logic is if Post Type = “Editorial”;
  • Some Other Field: Required. Field type is “Text”. Conditional logic is if Post Type = “Editorial”;

NOTE: I recently edited one of the Post Type options as there was a typo. I subsequently discovered that in doing so it not only broke all the conditional relationships with other ACF fields, that I then had to reset, but also reset all the Post Types assigned to my posts to a single value – which I also then had to go through and update. I raised this with ACF Support, who said –

“This is expected behavior, each field value is saved independently under each post and it is not recommended to change the field settings after posts have been saved with a value. You can however update all the field settings by creating a query to step through all the posts and pass the new value to the update_field() function. Please take a look at the following resource page for more info on this: https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/update_field/”.

PHP
Block 10 uses the td_module_9.php file. My code amendment is here – https://pastebin.com/vJDbVjMA

Things to note –

  • I have stripped out most of the default php echo statements that display author, WP post date and so on to stop them appearing if your default Newspaper 9 setting is to have these on;
  • I’ve kept the div names etc as much as possible but the naming may not make sense in terms of the fields that sit within. This means the post title font formatting is still controlled by TD Composer’s Block 10 style settings menu. Similarly, the Media Outlet and date fonts can be collectively changed via the Article Meta Info style options;
  • Additionally, as both these fields sit within a span class other style options are possible via custom CSS;
  • You will see the conditional variable for the ACF field, Post Type, along with the other ACF Field variables defined within Function Render at the top of the code;
  • Finally, to display the tags I used the suggestion in this support post (another good example of why a Sample Code silo would be useful), https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/display-tags-along-the-category-on-the-blocks/. My code already contains the php get_the_tags statement, but you will have to copy Vlad’s Pastebin code to your td_module.php file as he suggests. Note that I amended this slightly as it displayed a field label for the tags and I think it’s obvious what they are;
  • If you want the same, simply remove the following line – $buffy .= '<span>' . __td('TAGS') . '</span>;

CSS
This is here, https://pastebin.com/mjTz8Tua and features comments to explain what it does, which for the most part is reducing spacing and tightening the gaps between fields.

Hopefully, this post is clear enough to enable you to replicate and hopefully extend this functionality. A big thanks to Simion C. at TagDiv for his fantastic support in helping me work through this.

Please be aware, I have only been teaching myself PHP and CSS for about four weeks so I’ve no doubt the experienced community members will have more elegant ways of writing the PHP or CSS.

Please share if you do ?

Best Wishes

Gary

Hello !

That sorting works with popular posts depending on their view and feedback from customers. Unfortunately that option requires custom work to be removed and due to our support policy we cannot offer custom work: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-support/

Hi,

If you want to deactivate them you can do it from theme panel -> http://prntscr.com/orgqrd or if you are using single post templates from tagDiv Cloud library then you’ll need to edit that template with tagDiv Composer and remove those elements.

If this is not what you mean, please provide some more details and a link to inspect the template.

Thank you!

First problem: Why are you trying to write to files inside the Plugin folder? wp-content/uploads is usually web-writeable on WordPress, whereas folders in themes and plugins should NOT be web writeable, for security reasons. When I unlock our site, the error message goes away.

As a WordPress developer (plugin, theme and core WP) absolutely dialed in on securing and hardening WordPress, I am dismayed that you want to create these files inside the plugin folder.

Warning: fopen(plugins/td-composer/includes/templates/font-awesome.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_main.php on line 902

Second, we run tagDiv Composer on a *very* large MultiSite network (24 sites, 50+ gigs of content in wp-content/uploads). When we unlock the site (see first issue), tagDiv Editor just sits there and hour-glasses all day long. We have no issues with this on single standalone sites. Health Check is below the image…

tagDiv Composer does nothing...

Hello,
I use “Source name” button as a caption for featured image. I don’t want to use URL, so also I don’t want it to be linked on post page. Where I can find the code to remove <_a_> tag?

Additional question: Is there any other option to remove it without changining the code of the theme files?

Thanks,

Hi,

That would mean the post content begins with a video link, the automatic excerpt is picked from the beginning of the post.
One solution would be to set a manual excerpt in the post edit screen
https://prnt.sc/oogm10
https://forum.tagdiv.com/excerpts-introduction/
But that could take some time if there are many posts in this situation.

Another way would be to un-comment this code in the highlighted file
https://prnt.sc/oogn89 -> https://prnt.sc/oogmvv
Doing this will remove all the links at once. I will make a note of this and check why that code is commented. Please let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks

Hi,

The heading h3 is set in our theme for posts/pages titles, so all the blocks/widgets that you are using will show an h tag, unfortunately there is no block without a h tag.
If you want to remove it you can check this topic https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/replace-h3-h4-on-tags/ the file that need to be edit is in wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/common/wp_booster/td_module.php -> http://prntscr.com/oog1yt

Hope this will help!
Thank you!

Hi, team tagDiv.

You people referred to this link several times in the posts that I’ve gone through before posting this one.
This is the link—
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/amp-analytics/

But in this link the code that’s supposed to measure the traffic contains two scritps and one other tag. This is what google suggest website owners to paste in their website’s code.
But you people suggest to remove the scripts and all the other tags and to keep just the JSON code.
The code that you suggest pasting doesn’t work.
I’ve tried pasting this code in the amp plugin alone and in the amp section of theme panel alone and in the both amp plugin and themepanel’s amp section at once. But nothing worked.
What should I do now?

I have made a separate property (with same domain name) for amp pages and used a separate analytics ID. Can you explain the entire and perfect procedure that can be followed to see how much traffic is coming to amp pages?

Hi,

I have added a Gutenberg block ‘audio player’ in a draft post. When I click to play it in the TagDiv template preview window a ‘blue box’ appears around the player.

Is there a way to remove this blue box?

Thanks

Hi,

1. So you have created a page besides the homepage. Pages can display any posts you want, the blocks have an extensive filtering and sorting options, please see this guide
https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/
Posts that appear in blocks will lead to the post page.

So for example you can place 5 blocks, each can show posts from your desired categories. Most sorting methods are dynamic, an exception would the featured method
https://prnt.sc/onaz3p
If you would like to make a block or grid display specific posts, you could sort by featured for more control. That means that only posts that you assign to the Featured category will appear in that element – https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/
If you add just one post in the featured category, that will be displayed in the block until another one is added, and so on.

2. Each block or grid can be filtered as a whole. So it is not possible to filter it to show 3 posts from one specific category, and 2 from another – https://prnt.sc/onb1tz
Use multiple blocks to have a different filtering set on them.

3. One way is to use the featured sort, as mentioned in my first answer. But the posts will still cycle as you enter more in the featured category.
You could enter post IDs manually in the provided filter – https://prnt.sc/onb38k
Once post IDs are entered there, that block or grid will always show only those posts, until you edit the page and replace/remove them.
The filtering and sorting will affect the block or grid as a whole, the posts will be displayed accordingly. There can’t be a static (sticky) post in one module while the rest use a different sort.

4. Some footer styles come with predefined content, this content can’t be changed. The widgets you mention are 2 block 7 widgets and a popular category widget, that are predefined in the footer, they can’t be removed or customized.

If you want to replicate this but with your own settings, you can choose an empty footer template – https://prnt.sc/onb6qy and add a block 7 widget in the first and second footer section, and a popular category in the third – https://prnt.sc/onb7gj COnfigure them as you want. The popular category widget will show categories which have the most posts in them automatically.
https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
The theme provides an option to set a footer page instead of a template. So you can also create a page and set it to appear in the footer, instead of a template.

5. I believe you are referring to the email in the footer
https://prnt.sc/onb9rt
Like other elements the color of the email link will be the theme accent color
https://prnt.sc/onba0q
A dedicated setting just for the email isn’t available unfortunately. However I could give you a code to change it’s color without changing thew theme accent color
https://prnt.sc/onbbz1
The code can be entered in the Theme panel->Custom code->CSS section
https://prnt.sc/onbc7dhttps://pastebin.com/8aeM6F9a

Please let me know if I missed something.
Thanks

Hi,

If you want to disable the sidebar for a post, you can do it while editing the post
https://prnt.sc/omtlfh
The sidebar can be set to appear on the left, right or it can be disabled.

If you want to edit/remove/add widgets in sidebars you can do so in Appearance->Widgets
https://prnt.sc/omtnp0
Widget sidebars can be created like this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/

Please let me know if you have more questions. In case I misunderstood what you want to do, provide some more details about it.

Thanks

So you want to do this for category pages and post pages. I can provide a code to remove the Instagram section from the sidebar on mobile, I could also remove a post from those two blocks (the third module). The sidebar will look like this on mobile
https://prnt.sc/omeysl
The code will apply to all category pages and post pages on mobile. It can be entered in the Theme panel->Custom code->CSS section

@media(max-width: 767px){
.category .td-main-sidebar .td_block_instagram,
.single .td-main-sidebar .td_block_instagram,
.category .td-main-sidebar .td_block_15 .td-cust-row:nth-child(2),
.category .td-main-sidebar .td_block_15 .td-cust-row:nth-child(2) {
display: none;
}}

I can modify it if needed. Let me know.
