Problem solved. The soundcloud shortcode apparently relies on JetPack, which we had turned off.

The Soundcloud shortcode is not working with the theme on our site. It just displays the text of the shortcode.
I tested the [gallery] shortcode and it did work.

Hi, no longer updating this thread, as I’m now moving to testing optimizations utilizing
a) php 7 with enhancements for code and opcache, even better than php 5.6 (5.4 is a DOG!).

We have dedicated server, so a bit different approach than many others here. We do not use CDN as not secure (e.g., Cloudflare), or not any faster for our U.S. client/audience due to our server in Class A datacenter in Texas.

It is recommended to use the WP Super Cache plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ along with the theme because this is tested and should work properly. And the same for Cloudflare – https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/ For the WP Total Cache problems or issues you could search the forum, and see what problems other users are facing when using it and in what situations, since it could not be the same for every setup, and we did not test this plugin with the theme to say for sure what problems you might be facing.

I’ve found several threads about WP Total Cache that have some known issues with the theme.
If you don’t mind, could you please let me know a few of them or just one major problem?
Don’t get me wrong, WP Super Cache works fine on my site.
But I’m planning to use MaxCDN and which is good to go with WP Total Cache.
I know, theme recommended CloudFlare and I’m using it currently, but I’m not happy with Cloudflare.

Hi in my old theme doesnt work rocket loader cloudflare with adsense. Banners were invisible , my question is that Rocket Loader Cloudflare Works with Adsense in this Theme ?. I had seen some post in this forum that explain how had 100/100 on Google Speed with help some plugins and Rocket Loader Activated but my problem is its work with adsense. Thanks!

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. Merci mult. I will also check with them. Maybe I also wanted to suggest that you can invite some of the users to test the theme with the plugins – and maybe create a list or sticky post on this forum) where people can select which plugins they have used and is working. I am not suggesting all plugins because this will make an impossible task. for example main areas and maybe keep top 3. sometimes, hosting providers block certain plugin because of resources. I feel it improves the usability of the theme for so many people who are new and it help to maintain your theme position as #1. It can also save so much time for your team to answer same questions from new people 🙂

I am writing this after testing and trying some possible plugins based on my hosting provider constraint. Is it possible to test additional – maybe top 5 cache plugins and suggest the steps for configuration.
Cache plugins – WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Fastest Cache etc are not permitted on my Godaddy hosting.
I tried Comet Cache – but Pagespeed always keep showing to use Caching. Now using Cache Enabler (KeyCDN) and also enabled (WP_Cache, true) in wp-config file. The Theme Status message is still showing:
> No caching plugin detected – for best performance we recommend using WP Super Cache

I have tried many options in last 2-3 days for improving Google Pagespeed scores – main area is Minify CSS and JS and Caching. I signed-up CloudFlare free / basic plan – but i dont think it is working.
***** Part 1: Minify CSS and JS
I tried following plugins and for last 2-3 days, it is not very much succesful and most of them give FOUC on the site.
Plugins Tested:
1. Autoptimize (If enable HTML then FOUC within seconds, and cannot select any advanced options because FOUC)
I tried to select options to push CSS inline and load into the head – using the advanced options, but homepage breaks.
2. WP Roids (some issue with .htaccess – maybe because of my hosting, but give FOUC) – I have contacted the plugin author already and there is another guy which has Newspaper 7 theme having issue with this plugin.

3. WP Super Minify (i dont know if this did anything – cannot see any changes)
4. Best WordPress Minify – using since today afternoon – Not FOUC yet
Note: Cloudflare Minify option is activated all the time.
Can you please advise which plugin to use – which will not break the CSS and render pages properly. I removed Revolution Slider for now also to improve speed.
I just checked my site with W3C CSS Validator (http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/) and Nu Html Checker (https://validator.w3.org/nu/) to see if there are any errors. I’m using cloudflare and i have enabled Auto Minify but it’s not working due to theme errors. I will send you the URL of my site by email.

Regarding 2. : How would I avoid mixed content (HTTP/HTTPS) ? Is there a guide on what I have to do, or just installing WordPress using HTTPS as default is enough ? Any .htaccess rules or page rules in Cloudflare needed, redirections or others?

1. You do not have to use the plugin. Just use these settings in the cloudflare server: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/ (if the plugin was required, it would have been specified in the documentation)
2. Our theme is fully compatible with https. You do not need any at all plugins to move to ssl.
3. Unfortunately since the plugin is not tested I cannot say for sure if it will work or not. You wuill have to try it out with a bit of trail and error. We only recommend wp super cache and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/

I just bought the template and before installing it, I’d like to get the starting configuration correctly.
I’d like to use HTTPS, Cloudflare and Redis object caching.
Cloudflare is configured according to your guide, WordPress is installed using https (the homeUrl is https://domain.com) and Redis is configured and set to use this wordpress script
The questions I have:
1. Do I need Cloudflare WordPress plugin? If so, is it enough just to apply it and let it use default settings?
2. Are there any incompatibilities with HTTPS? (Let’s encrypt, if matters). Are plugins like Simple SSL needed to avoid mixed content? Couldn’t find any information in the documentation
3. As I haven’t found anything related to Redis, are there any known issues with the wordpress script or reasons why i should not use it? (Yes, I am planning to set up WP Super Cache as well).
I know these might not be standard questions, but it’s important to get the start correctly, else it will always come back to this moment later on.

I just updated our website to the latest version of Newspaper and it is no longer sending emails for user registrations, subscription emails, or any emails for our plugins. I have cleared the cache from cloudflare and through Super Cache. Any advice?

No, the problem is not knowing the operation of the theme, but how to make it work in an environment with cache other than WP Super Cache. Super Cache is a very poor plugin compared to the rest. I have solved it by making some adjustments in CloudFlare and installing WP Rocket, which allows different caches for the desktop and for the mobile. I’ve sacrificed some speed, but at least now themes do not cross from mobile to desktop and desktop to mobile.
