Hey folks
When I click the “tagdiv composer” button above a page I have just created, it just shows a blank screen (with the tagdiv controls on the left). Like this: https://screencast.com/t/oQxMDLuUgnr
I have installed the latest version of the theme and also reinstalled the td-composer plugin.
Any ideas?
Is there a way to display posts that only have a certain tag? When I am in the tagDiv composer and I select a post display option, the only option for sorting by tag is “Tag Slug.” I don’t want to use the slug to sort, I want to use the tags that I specifically entered on the posts page that are not in the actual slug.
Here is an example of what I mean: https://glitterybride.com/location/united-states/california/
On this page, I want to show all weddings that were in California. So I went ahead and tagged each post with the word “California” and selected the post layout through tagDiv and entered “California” under “Tag Slug” this only gave me the Posts that had the word “California” in the Slug URL and left out other posts that did not contain California in the URL but were tagged correctly.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Daniella
Problem solved, Just deactivate TD Composer
Thanks Simion. I’ve just sent that email.
Some additional information. Since we host with WP engine, we are provided two different environments to work with (production and staging). Both are available for you to troubleshoot with and use the same access credentials. I’d recommend troubleshooting via the staging environment, as that doesn’t use a forced HTTP -> HTTPS redirect for the WP dashboard, as the production environment does.
You’ll notice that using the staging environment, you can switch between HTTP and HTTPS at will and the tagDiv Composer will work, and not work, respectively.
We’ll stay out of the website for now, so you can do your thing. Please let me know what you find out, and if you find a fix, please let me know what it was. I’ve created backups of each environment moments ago so I can restore them following your troubleshooting process, if need be.
Thanks very much!
When using TD Composer on staging.thegrio.com the composer turns blank when ads refresh. Can you please provide guidance to correct the issue.
Hi,
There have been many changes since version 7.7. The latest theme version is 8.1.1 at the moment. In version 8 the tagDiv composer was introduced as the main page builder
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
This editor can have an impact on pages created with Visual composer. It is activated by default when the theme is updated or installed. Simply deactivate it in the plugins section and the website should display properly.
Also custom code or theme modifications you might be using with the current version, might not work properly with the latest update. The child theme if used, might need adjustments as well. Use this guide to update the theme
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
I see that currently that you are using version 8.1 on the website. There are no issues with the homepage that I can see.
That flash could be caused by a plugin conflict. Try deactivating all plugins except theme plugins as a test. Clear any caching installed after this. Then check if the issue is still happening.
Thanks
Thank you for replying. It seems, in the update td-composer is automatically installed and activated. Deactivating td-composer solved my issue.
Hi,
I see that the Visual composer button is present as an option, in the page edit screen. Classic mode should look like this- https://www.screencast.com/t/OetQ94Y6oS13
Backend editor like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/KYizh0AL8YC7
If this is not how it works for you and there is a problem, try as a test to deactivate all plugins except theme plugins. Then check if this has any effect. Try using Visual composer backend editor on a new page.
Please let us know the result, and if there still is a problem. More details about what exactly is happening would be helpful as well.
Thanks
Hi,
I could ‘t say exactly why the search results are displayed like that by Google. Maybe you can find more similar cases online. It could have something to do with the website language.
The Yoast SEO plugin has to be used for SEO optimization, the theme does not have any options or settings in this matter.
For translation you could try the qTranslate plugin. The theme is compatible with WPML also. Or make tests with other plugins as well
– http://www.wpbeginner.com/showcase/9-best-translation-plugins-for-wordpress-websites/
I believe that verification code has to be entered in the theme header file, between the head tags
– https://www.screencast.com/t/3ORNutEVslq
There are multiple methods to update the theme
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The new updates simply updates the Visual composer and Revolutions slider plugins. Also some modifications were made to a couple of theme files
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/what-exactly-is-new-in-the-newspaper-8-1-version/
Thanks
Hi, What files are changed in the last 8.1.1 release?
I do not find changelog file.
The changes are also for child theme?
I see only:
Version 8.1.1 – October 18, 2017
–> improvement: we updated Visual Composer to the latest version
–> improvement: Updated Revolution Slider to the latest version
–> fix: XSS Security issue
Thanks.
Hi,
There should not be any confusion created by the theme update. The Visual composer and Revolution slider plugins are now up to date. The latest versions are provided in the updated theme package.
Additionally some modifications were made to these theme files, mentioned as well in your other topic
– https://www.screencast.com/t/odiNOrH0fr
– https://www.screencast.com/t/jRBqD3DwTqX
Thanks
Hi,
Older pages created with Visual composer should not be affected by the plugin update. That would mean problems for everybody that uses and updates Visual composer.
Please provide more details about the issues that are happening for you, and a link to your website if needed so we can inspect the problem.
Thanks
Hi,
Yesterday i noticed that the website had developed an issue. The problem was that when navigating between pages on the website there was a flash of the mobile menu background before the page would load. So before the pages load theres a quick flash of the purple background used on mobile menu.
I decided to look in my envato account to check on theme updates. I saw that i was on version 7.7 so needed to update my theme.
Since updating the the latest version of the theme my website layout has broken.
Now the website homepage has changed to full width. Now there is also something called TD composer in place of visual composer tab on the homepage.
The website also seems much slower to load now. https://news.lovepattayathailand.com
Anyway,if possible i would like to re-install the previous version of the theme and go back to how it was before.
Or id like some support in fixing the mess my update has caused please.
Thanks
The main header is not appearing on my public homepage in some browsers. It is appearing on Safari, but doesn’t appear in Firefox or Chrome. What is weird is that the header does appear on those browsers when I am editing the page using tagDiv Composer.
Really sucks the updated Visual Composer limits. Spent hours on creating a design, with the update it sucks. The older version of VC broke the page design. Do I have to spend time to reinstall 8.1 and older VC to get my site looking the way I want?
Hi,
1. Please note that the theme width overall cannot be changed. It should not be attempted by custom code. The theme has a fixed width, and all the elements used are dependent on this fact. Modifying the width will most likely break the website. There are precise values used that will not display properly under different circumstances.
On pages you can stretch rows to full width, using the composer. Header and footer elements can be stretched in the theme panel. But a general setting for width is not available.
2. You could adjust the line height for the header menu
– https://www.screencast.com/t/ki24ggk4sU
Increasing the line height value will affect the header menu height.
3. The search icon is a font, it could be increased with some CSS
– https://www.screencast.com/t/WobUXDutVP4
Hamburger menu icon as well
– https://www.screencast.com/t/hOC404fGB
This is the code used in the example, adjust it as you like
.header-search-wrap .td-icon-search {
font-size: 50px;
}
#td-top-mobile-toggle i {
font-size: 50px;
}
The Travel blog demo uses a different header style, so the code will not work. Either change the header style to 6, or modify the header style in the code. Might need to adapt more of the code as well.
When you uninstall the demo, this will remove all the demo settings. The theme panel will be reset. The theme has an option to export/import theme panel settings
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/
That should be the only case that the theme panel is affected.
Thanks
Hi,
The pages can be customized using the tagDiv composer. Each element on the page can be customized. This is a guide about using the composer
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
And this a guide mentioning all the available block settings and options
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
A block title or color can be easily modified, while editing the page with the composer
– https://www.screencast.com/t/u4ZSvuom
Widgets present on pages can be customized in Appearance->Widgets
– https://www.screencast.com/t/3ZVbKN6q
Please let us know if you need further help, or you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
If you still have a problem using the composer, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information so we can take a look. Also paste a link to this topic in your email.
Thanks
Hi,
If you use the WP Super Cache please make sure it is configured according to this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
The plugin settings may look different since it has been updated, but the configuration is similar.
What you can try additionally, is to deactivate all plugins except theme plugin as a test to spot possible conflicts. Clear all caching after doing this. Then create a new page and use the composer to edit it. Let us know if there is still a problem.
Thanks
Hi,
1. Grids and blocks will display posts according to the configuration you set for each of them. If you use the same settings for the grid and the block, then the posts displayed will be the same. Please check this block settings tutorial
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/
Filter the elements on the page differently so they will not display the same posts. If it is required to use the same categories you can use the offset feature
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/offset-feature/
2. You could do that with a code like this
– https://www.screencast.com/t/egH4VJoYVgh
.td-header-style-5 .sf-menu > li.td-normal-menu > ul.sub-menu {
left:0;
}
Enter it in Theme panel->Custom CSS section.
3. The width of the page cannot be changed. It is not recommended to make any modifications concerning the width of the theme. This will break the website layout, all the elements on the page are dependent on the fixed width defined in the theme stylesheet.
4. You can try plugins to create a table, at the moment the composer does not have a specific element for table creation. Try a few plugins and see which one works properly.
5. As well, plugins can be used to create subscription forms. I believe there are many free subscription plugins that would allow you to do this.
Please let us know if you have more questions, or you need further help.
Thanks
Hi,
on my site http://www.kreditwuerdigkeit.de/ you see everywhere postingdates. How I can delete them?
Second questions: Below on my site you see the column “Neueste Beträge”. How I can remove this? There is no chance with the TD Composer and in my adminpanel/widgets I don’t see this widget.
I would like to see the original question answered. I don’t use Visual Composer or the Revolution Slider.
Hi,
The social counter has to be configured according to this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial-2/
If it is set properly there should be no issue. Instagram requires an ID only, for setting it up in the counter or the Instagram widget. Like in this example on a page
– https://www.screencast.com/t/eV5bwReGZKy
Multiple layouts can be achieved through the widget
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/instagram-widget/
Pages can be edited with the tagDiv composer, anything can be customized
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
I am assuming the author name in the sidebar is an author box
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/author-box/
That can be customized by editing the page as well.
Please let us know if you need further help, or you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
If you mean the exchange widget, that can be easily done. Simply edit the page with the composer and place the element on the page, in the sidebar
– https://www.screencast.com/t/DZr2dz0d
If you use a widgetised sidebar, the sidebars can be customized in Appearance->Widgets. More information about using the tagDiv composer here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Please let us know if you need further help.
Thanks
Hi there,
I just installed the Newspaper 8 (v8.1, downloaded today), and the tagDiv Composer editor does not load the page within the iframe because of mixed content warnings. My website is hosted on WPengine (which uses HTTPS) but the tagDiv Composer plugin doesn’t seem to recognize that the URL it needs to load in the iframe also needs to be HTTPS.
Is there a setting somewhere that I’m missing that would turn on HTTPS for this, or is this legitimately a bug that needs to be fixed? I’m sure I could dive into the code myself to resolve but that’s not in my client’s budget, it wouldn’t be a maintainable fix, and I’ve got 6 months of support from you guys.
My stop-gap solution is just using Chrome dev tools to change the protocol to HTTPS, which seems to completely resolve the issue, it’s just a super pain to do that every time and… ultimately, my client may end up making these kinds of changes in the future and that’s not something that I would expect them to do.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
-Nick
