Hi,
I see that constant request is made for the admin-ajax file: http://screencast.com/t/aB3cZWc3EE5 I believe this is made by the Heartbeat Control plugin which I suggest you disable and also disable the rest of them, leave just the theme’s Visual Composer and test again.
To reduce the number of request made to the admin ajax file you can also disable the ajax view counter feature if you’re using it as this is actually calling ajax file for each post view to update the counter: http://screencast.com/t/MC4wUfU8
You can also try to reduce the number of blocks/queries on your homepage. The admin ajax file is also called allot when customizing the theme and making change in the theme panel. Not sure how you could avoid that however if you still experience problems with this you could also consider changing hosts as access tot his file resources is requested by the WordPress and by the theme.
Thanks
Hi,
You have some errors in the console – http://screencast.com/t/2f6GE6UEYw
Try to disable all plugins except for Visual Composer and check if the issue is still there. Let me know if it works.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
I’ve created a ticket on Visual Composer help section, one client who’s got a similar issue agreed upon sharing his credentials with wpbakery team, i’ll get back with a solution as soon as i receive an answer.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
From which version did you updated the theme?
Please update your theme via FTP – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ and also the plugins that come with the theme’s files from /plugins folder – https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Try to delete the js_composer folder from plugins and upload again Visual Composer from the files that you have downloaded from themeforest. Let me know.
Thanks!
Hi,
I’ve checked it on my side and it works fine, please provide the links used by so i can test them on my side.
Also try to disable all plugins, enable only Visual Composer, save the post again and see if the thumb is there.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
First backup the files and database.
Disable all plugins.
Then download the theme package, copy the theme latest version files over the existing ones and chose overwrite all.
Update Visual Composer, Social Counter and the other plugins, enable the plugins and check if there are any issues.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
I updated all that have been listed below but my version still shows 444. Do you know why??
functions.php
includes\plugins\js_composer.zip
includes\plugins\revslider.zip
includes\plugins\td-social-counter.zip
includes\plugins\td-speed-booster.zip
includes\td_wordpres_booster.php
includes\wp_booster\external\class-tgm-plugin-activation.php
includes\wp_booster\td_config.php
includes\wp_booster\td_video_playlist_support.php
includes\wp_booster\td_video_support.php
Hi,
Can you provide more details as I have checked your site and it working fine at least from my side.
Did you updated your theme via FTP?
Do you have news ticker on your homepage?
If you still have this issue please make sure that you check this also without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active and also clear cache. Let me know!
Thanks!
I am also with this problem. I have more options to include the Grid Elements modules. I opened a call with the author of the plugin and he wrote:
The issue is because there is an inbuilt version of Visual Composer (or the related code) present in your theme which is overriding the standalone plugin version and hence causing the issue. You will have to get rid of it. I would advise you to do so with the help of theme author, otherwise you might loose the extra elements added by him. Once this is done, you can install the standalone plugin and it will work fine. Kindly check.
Thank you,
After updating the theme newspaper to the last version, 4.6.3, and the plugins too, visual composer doesn’t work properly. When I see the tutorial, it shows that if you go to Grid elements and click on add new, you should see a “Preview” button at the top right corner of the grid element builder which I cannot see, so I cannot preview de grid before publishing it.
Moreover, when editing or creating a page, the tutorial shows that a button called “Frontend” should be placed at the top right corner of the Visual Composer, but I cannot see that button. So, when I try to add new elements, some of them are not available, for example post grid, media grid, and more…
These problems were supposed to be fixed with the theme update, but they aren’t.
Hi,
I have checked your site and the images are loading also on mobile devices. If you want to disable lazy load feature there is an option in Theme Panel > Template Settings: http://screencast.com/t/4UcPOSoS46
If this is not what you mean please provide more details (which mobile device did you use), also you can check this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active and clear cache. Disable also js/css minification.
Thanks!
Hi,
@debarup Unfortunately we cannot update the theme for you but you can use this guide for update(FTP method) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ and also update the plugins that come with the theme’s files from the /plugins folder – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thanks!
I am in danger of having a web site turned off by my hosting company (Inmotion hosting) for excessive resource usage caused by constant hits to wp-admin/admin-ajax.php . We have also entered code into the https file to restrict use of the Admin page page to only our IP address as follows:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*)?wp-admin.*$
RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} !^99\.232\.52\.92$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ – [R=403,L]
</IfModule>
The site at http://www.breedingnews.com is the only site of several WordPress sites that we own which is suffering from this, and is the only one using the Newsmagtheme. I have already installed the Heartbeat control plugin but this is having little if any effect.
We have the following plugins running:
Adrotate
Envato WordPress Toolkit
Gravity Forms
Gravity Forms PGP encryption
Heartbeat Control
s2Member Framework
tagDiv Social counter
W3 Total cache
Wordpress HTTPS
WP Bakery Visual composer
Any help or ideas really appreciated
Newspaper updated today and also the Visual Composer. Now Visual Composer is presenting error editing:
Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to Vc_Edit_Form_Fields::setSettings() must be of the type array, null given, called in /home/uba435dt/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/classes/editors/class-vc-edit-form-fields.php on line 47 and defined in /home/uba435dt/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/classes/editors/class-vc-edit-form-fields.php on line 68
Chris,
Please accept my humble and heartfelt apologies. Had to upload theme update and js_composer update using ftp.
Then I thought I would raise the problem with Hostgator again and this is what they said:
The php.ini has it set, but the domain hasn’t been pointed to that .ini file. Bear with me just a moment.
(8:16 am) [Robin R.] So you know, I included this code in the .htaccess file, to point the site to use the custom php.ini that was set up in the same directory:
<IfModule mod_suphp.c>
suPHP_ConfigPath ./php.ini
<Files php.ini>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>
</IfModule>
So as you can see the first time I contacted Hostgator although they increased the upload file size allowed they forgot to include the code in the .htaccess file to point the domain to the custom php.ini file with the 1000mb max file size.
Maybe this will help others who encounter the same problem.
Best wishes
Derek
Try fresh install of theme and visual composer, no child theme, all plugins off except visual composer, clear caching, at least 128mb for php.
Hello.
I just moved my site to a VPS hosting and upon doing so I get a white screen with the visual composer plug in enabled.
I tried increasing my memory limit (google solution) and no help. Looking at my source some of the site is rendering but not all of it.
Basically nothing within the body tag. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Main differences (my impressions on this topic only, not ‘official’ in any way)
Newspaper — wider layout for those doing things like 3 column newspaper pages, or where a wider post area needed to do 2 columns of text with photo wraps, for presentation “like a newspaper,” or for those who want a larger playing field. Support for wider ad units in post area.
NewsMag — more compact layout with keylines, like a magazine or older TIME magazine print layout where everything is boxed. NO “wide screen” layout (fixed more narrow grid).
“Bells and whistles” may end up being same between the two at some point, both may lose any R-T-L support, both may support the new TagDiv “API” to hook in extra functions and features.
Main difference is the “width/layout” area and hence slightly different layouts and modules with visual composer, and slightly different default and custom layouts on “category/archive” pages.
In our case, we chose to go with Newsmag as it was more what we wanted when Newspaper was first launched and did have a narrow layout. We wanted to migrate from our in-house responsive (grid 960 custom layout, pre bootstrap) theme, and/or Woo Canvas to seomthing more “shiny and cool” … with “some sense of pagespeed optimization” which most foundries were clueless about in Fall of 2013, but Tagdiv was trumpeting (as we had been doing so here).
I think some folks might end up buying both and trying them out with your specific content and images then choosing the right one for your needs, knowing you’ll have similar workflow, plugins, and “bells and whistles.”
My two cents anyway 🙂
(stupid visual composer!!!!) 😉
Thanks Chris – no, it wasn’t that, since we haven’t upgraded to WP4.2 yet. Turned out to be a problem with Visual Composer which we’ve just re-installed. Gggrrrr…. !!!! Plan to upgrade to 1.71 newsmag soon – but will wait a few days to see how it goes with others first 😉
I just completed the update,
I followed method 1 here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Then I updated the Visual Composer by doing this:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
And everything seems fine.
You can find the changelog in the zip file you download from Themeforest … ?
Great idea to learn to unzip files locally on your hard drive and “explore” what is actually included with files you purchase and download from the interwebs. 🙂

Site Speed test results: Pagespeed Insight
Hi,
I’m trying to improve the speed of the site, my mobile speed results are currently only 40/100
I’ve got Gzip on, I’m running Total Cache, I’ve compressed all images with EWWW
I have tried the TagDIV speed booster plugin with the steps outlined on this page
However, the list it produced didn’t seem to correlate with the actual page insight results (with the exception of a couple)

I’m wondering are able to provide a list of corresponding id’s for some of the above that I can try adding to the td-speed-booster.php file or should I just take every ID from the list and paste them into the speed-booster.php?
Any suggestions you can make would be greatly appreciated, I was considering trying Better Wordppress Minify Not sure is it’s compatible with the theme or not?
Cheers
We’ve removed the titles from many of the blocks on our pages, if we edit a block that previously had no title specified the title ‘block title’ is placed into the field.
Is this a Visual Composer bug?
