Hi,
I’ve got the same problem on our ebike magazine: http://www.ebike-news.de. But there is no Facebook-Plugin installed.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thank you.
Was almost done tweaking my site and then like from nowhere the ONE thing I really don’t want in any Wp-press install is the wp-bar suddenly showing up throwing my users in to the backoffice of my wp-installation. How do I get rid of it? I’m using the ajax-login
What does this mean? I guess considering the output when pressing the forum tab in my buddypress installation is that the crummy looking standard buddypress/bbpress is showed in the forum and also that the fact that I’ve not used the standard name for the forum during set up might have messed up things.
“Cannot redeclare td_bbp_forum_pagination_links_custom() (previously declared in /xxx/xxx/xxx/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/bbpress/pagination-topics.php:11) in /xxx/xxx/xxx/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/bbpress/pagination-topics.php on line 16”
My Shop got completely messed up regarding layout when swooping in and installing the Newspaper theme. Anyone have any experience of the same sort? On my playground site I installed a fresh Woocommerce after installing Newspaper and that worked fine.
On the live site images are not in line with the demo nor the playground site’s layout but are more to be found here and there and kind of everywhere.
Already turned off and on plugins, regenerated thumbnails and such.
I installed the Newspaper template…what I have been looking for along time. I am having a problem with the Page Gallery now that I uploaded the template. Before I had Thumb Nails you could see everything I had set at 150 x 200…now half the photos are cut off. So I tried a Gallery Photos and its the same even after reuploading photos.

HI, folks
for many of you (including us), we wanted to use slightly different method for the social media buttons at bottom of the post in the theme, and for some reason with the default theme setup and using Yoast SEO plugin, the Pinterest image would never populate even with all the Pinterest-friendly code in the head of the theme.
So, starting playing with using the WP AddThis plugin, however its main flaw (and those folks are really dumb in not updating to include the async code which EVERYBODY has been requesting for the pat year – and which can be easily fixed).
Finally, I took look at plugin and sorted out how easy it is to “hack that” for your site. While there are many choices for plugins, or managing “on page” code, we’ve found over the past five years, that the AddThis plugin when used async mode, actually is very consistent and doesn’t adversely impact our pages. Your mileage may vary. Still, think about how many websites have those little orange [+] buttons for sharing and AddThis has big installed base.
So, here is how to do this – was going to post this in my blog, and will later, but redoing my website right now and well, I just hacked our Newspaper theme site to do this, so thought I’d pass it along.
This assumes you will
1) turn off the social media option in the control/customizer panel for the theme, on posts.
2) download the AddThis plugin v 3.5.6+ (the one from the AddThis company) and open file in the plugin folder to edit one line;
3) upload the modified plugin to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder via FTP
4) activate plugin
5) choose settings for plugin as to whether you want the pill buttons with balloons showing number of shares/likes, or the speedier share buttons without the “phone homes” to get read/share numbers (which slow down your website and pagespeed, btw).
So, once you have plugin:
in the folder, you’ll be editing this file:
addthis/includes/addthis_addjs.php
You can edit in notepad, simpletext, or whatever (I use the awesome TEXTPAD 5 on Windows7); do not edit in a word processor like Pages, or OpenOffice, MS Word, etc.
around about line 166-167 you will see this:
function addWidgetToJs(){
$this->jsToAdd .= '<script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/'.$this->atversion.'/addthis_widget.js#pubid='. urlencode( $this->pubid ).'"></script>';
}
and you will simply change to: (YOURID is your publisher id you get when creating an AddThis account, which is free; includes tracking if you want that, zero cost, and no impact on SEO or link pollution). If you have no publisher ID, simply remove #pubid=YOURID — IMPORTANT, do *NOT* put in a publisher ID in the AddThis WP control panel as you’re manually over-riding the insert variable here.
function addWidgetToJs(){
$this->jsToAdd .= '<script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/'.$this->atversion.'/addthis_widget.js#pubid=YOURID#async=1"></script>';
}
To see this in action:

Using this hack as of 12.25.13, but if you’re reading this a year later, we might be doing something totally different (view ‘source code’ for page to see whassup).
Hope tha helped somebody.
Once I get our server moved, and my website updated for our main company, my wordpress blog will be back, and I’ll include link to that for more of my little tidbits of tips.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Be aware that some hosting providers create a directory in your public root by default as /blog/ as a default install for blog software outside of the public content sometimes built with hosting co pagebuilder.
In some WP installs you can’t create a page/menu item called “blog” that would go to http://yoursite.com/blog/ due to the directory existing.
This may be totally unrelated to your situation. But this happened to a pal once and deleting the existing /blog/ folder in the public root fixed it.
Again, may not be related, but one thing to consider.
Ok I went to another forum (wordpress.org) and was given help there.
From what I can gather I load the largest image which in this case is 1074 x 483 for the large slider, and then wordpress creates all the other image sizes by a standard cropping method, by installing a plugin that allows access to all those images I can choose how to crop them.
In the meantime I am working in Photoshop to find out the best way to set up the largest slider image so that when it gets cropped I stand the best chance of having a usable image.
I guess if I went for uploading just the 700 x 357 it will get stretched, but so far have not seen how that might look.
Will come back with a better answer once I have played with this a bit.
Update: Played with this a bit and if I start in Photoshop with a image size of 250 X 167 it appears to up size through all the different image sizes without a problem, so creating it first in that size then increasing the size to the largest image size possible which is 1074 x 483 would appear to work.
The plugin I am using to try and do it inside wordpress is Manual Image Crop which seems fine.
Hopefully this will solve at least this problem.
HI,
if you’re using a cache plugin with “page cache” on that should work.
Many hosting providers also run caching software of varying kinds, but not all websites may have that function depending on plan and how they setup VPS or containers for different customer classes. eacclerator, optcache, memcache, etc.
The .htaccess file goes in the root of your public document area (e.g., httpdocs/yoursitename/public – same place that wp-content lives), and is more easily seen with an FTP application that can show hidden files ( .htaccess is the file name – the dot makes it hidden ). Or, if you’re using something like YOAST SEO, there is an “edit files” option to make additions to the file (which is what I do). It is there, as WordPress writes it’s “rewrite” rules to that file. In your web hosting account there may be a “file manager” which would let you edit it, also.
Smush.it is the popular choice, however it only works on new files not existing ones. I think “regenerate thumbnails” may work when smushit is on, but check the help support on that for those plugins.
What amazes me are the problems you and I can’t do much about
a) issues with Google AdSense
b) issues with social media elements
c) issues with recaptcha (I just turned this off); powered by Google
d) issues with Disqus or any comment platform including the one from automatic
The most hilarious issue is that we installed Google’s “mod_pagespeed” system on our web server, and now it’s saying that there is a PageSpeed error since PageSpeed inserted three 1×1 pixel graphics and isn’t specifying their height and width.
Seriously?
So, basically from my experience wrangling this the past few months, if you want to know your real pagespeed run it with
1) ads off ! You will get pagespeed errors from Google ads.
2) social media off – you will get error from twitter
3) if you use Addthis, as we do – you need to hack the plugin to add the #async=1 option at end of javascript string.
It’s a process that will end up being frustrating at some point. No way around issues with Google’s own products generating errors. SO, they penalize page speed for using their services. Crazy.

Hello Christopher,
I read all forum messages already and still do have some problems:
1. WP Total Cache: the widget NEXT PREV AJAX ain’t working, so I installed WP Super Cache
2. Where can I put the .htaccess code into my WordPress? I can not find the .htaccess file.
3. Aks my provider for caching: whats the differences between WP Super Cache and asking them?
4. I use Bulk Smush.it to minimize the pictures size. Its ok?
Hello,
Installed the great template “Newspaper” and BAMMMM, SpeedPage is very bad:
Here a post: http://bit.ly/194FvaX
I am not an expert in changing Javascripts or CSS etc, so who can help me solve this problem?
Thank you..
Hello,
this is a strange error. get_header() is an internal function from wordpress.
I can recomend you:
1. to disable permalinks and see if the site works without them and if everything is ok renable them.
2. disable all plugins
3. try to increase the allowed memory size in php.ini
4. try the site with the default wordpress theme
5. a full wordpress reinstall
I’m sorry for the problem but it looks like some kind of hosting problem / incompatibility. This kind of problems are very hard to fix without direct server access. I can assure you we did not encounter this problem before.
I tried to import existing articles from another blog, but whenever i try to use the WordPress Importer, i get the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class WXR_Parser in …/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/parsers.php on line 12
Try to reinstall the Plugin already, did not help.
Hello,
I have changed my header color: now I have a dark header and a dark menu, but I can’t see the symbols like home, search, etc.
I found the elements.png and elements@2x.png files on the images/sprite folder, but when I try to change it to a white color using photoshop I have a terrible icon. Is there any possibility that you can send me these files in a white/clear version? Or is there another place to set up these symbols’ colors?
Question number 2:
Is it possible to have a uppercase menu? How?
I just found the option upper or lower case title to slide posts.
But I would love to have an upper menu…
Question number 3:
It’s more a suggestion than a question… I would like to save my settings and export them (maybe in a .txt file so I won’t have to change everything again if I had to reinstall the theme).
That’s all for now.
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Barbara
Interesting. My install doesn’t create that many versions. I wonder if you’re using another plugin which also creates thumbnails like another related post plugin. One way to check is look at your pages and count how many different size images are actually in use, such as home, category, sidebar, footer, related, etc.
ONE TRICK: figure out the small and medium sizes made by the theme, and then change those sizes in the media manager in wordpress which creates thumbnails, so you’re not making three extra sizes from the WP install itself … (small/medium/large).
This is an oooold issue with WP creating S/M/L thumbnails “automatically” while the theme makes sizes it needs. So, idea is to have WP auto create sizes that match what the theme is doing.
Of course, if you have 100,000 images in any folder that may be a limit imposed by hosting provider.
Not sure that helped.
Hello,
Use the child theme, for custom CSS.
If you have made custom css, on updates you will lose the modification, because you overwrite the files.
Install the CHild theme and add you custom css there in Appearance -> Editor
Thanks

Hello, I just installed your zip file for newspaper through cPanel and ‘newspaper is in the broken themes at the bottom. It say that it is missing the template.
Thanks,
Justin
I have Jetpack installed and showing share btns set to show on my homepage posts, pages and posts. It only shows on single posts.
I’ve upgraded to WP 3.8 and your theme 2.1.2 and everything is great but the Facebook plugin issue that remains and also now the Jetpack share btns issue. I see it’s a theme issue because when I try the Twenty Fourteen theme, it works fine as configured, buttons are showing everywhere as it is supposed to.
Wait on your reply.
Thanks.

Hello,
@mmcmsp like @tonz1976 sayed, just replace all files via FTP. Also please be careful !!! i see you have made some customization. I mean if you have file modification be sure to not loose the modification from files. (like the hearts instead of of stars) in elements.png file.
I’ve installed 3.8 and seems to work fine. We will release an update next week and will confirm the compatibility with 3.8
Thanks @tonz1976 for your help.
