HI

I’ve checked the links in image caption on smart-lists and they work fine on my end, the link from caption does not go over the image. Please make sure that html for link and for smar-list is properly generated, clear the cache and test again.

You can choose image’s alignment from post editor for any image: http://screencast.com/t/qH462fTtn

Hello UHR,

I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using an old version of the theme with some untested plugins. Please try to update the theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.3), update the Visual Composer to 4.12, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. If you want to bring high results with the theme, please notice that you should keep up with our updates. Also, please notice that the update of the theme will have to be made via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/ Also, before doing these steps, please make a full backup to your data according to the documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

Hi

Glad I could help.
Not that for caching we recommend Wp Super Cache plugin with the configuration indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ Try this plugin and check how it goes.
Thanks!

HI

I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’re using Mobile theme module from Jetpack plugin: http://screencast.com/t/4z2vCzZCNAOi This module create issues with our theme and we don’t recommend its usage. Try to deactivate the module, clear all caches then test again.
Thanks!

Hello AndreBoni,

Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. It is possible that your untested plugins used by you in theme to interact with it and cause a lot of unknown issues.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Andrel,

Thank you for the detailed and valuable reply.

My website is hosted on a Google Cloud based Managed WordPress Hosting site and yes, they do have caching functionalities on their server. But isn’t it for good reasons rather than breaking some of the functionalities of my site? I mean caching are done for speed and optimizations of the site but it shouldn’t interfere with the UI of the site. Right?

With my understanding , caching serves few pre-saved static files and hence there can be delay in getting the fresh live version of the site. but in this case, I can easily see that even the latest published posts are immediately available on mobiles too. It doesn’t play with minifications, async/deferring JS files etc.

What I want to know is what should I ask my hosting providers to do. Should I tell them to remove caching or to moderate some specific caching functionalities?

As you know I have currently disabled the WP Super cache as well as cloudflare to get the immediate versions of my changes on my website. but do you think that by activating it again and deleting the cache few times can delete the caching done on server side too? I mean should I give it a try?

Please excuse if I am sounding foolish to these questions. I am just an experienced WordPress user but not developer or expert.

If at any point of time, you want to check the backend. I have already sent my login credentials on contact@tagdiv.com , please do look at things as I really want this mobile plugin version to work properly.

Thank you.

Hi Andrei,

thanks for your reply.

I had disabled many of my kinda frivolous plugins but not the ones I know I really can’t live without i.e. a caching plugin (this case W3 Total Cache, which my previous theme and host likes). Per your advice, I disabled it and BOOM!–instantly the menu appeared! YAY!

I am working on a staging copy right now, but if i decide to use this theme I will simply switch to the caching plugin it is compatible with.

I really want to use this theme because of its high pagespeed score, but it is a big transition moving from one theme to another! Knowing what plugins the theme is compatible with is half the battle. thanks for the list and advice.

Thank You,

Try in chrome to go on some posts and i think you will get the bug… which is really anoying with the mobile theme…

I’ve noticed a new issue: sometimes the mobile theme isn’t loaded but it’s shown the normal responsive theme. I think that this is caused by the cache (I’m using WP Super Cache and I followed your guide to set it), because with the cache disabled it seems to work.

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for the quick response. I installed a clear cache plugin for our word press but that did not do the trick. I am a little backend challenged so would be great to have a little assist. Our blog is http://www.blog.madisonlogic.com and the issue is only happening on the mobile version of the site. It populates the phrase “Activate Intent” under the header section, but what we are trying to have it say is “The Global Leader in Account Based Marketing”. Thanks so much!

Bogdan,

Thank you for explaining how it works. Upon checking today I discovered that it is now working. I assuming, like you said, it just needed to be cached.

Best,
Kyle

Hi

Please make sure that you update thew theme according with our documentation, https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ and also update Visual Composer at V 4.12 which is included in theme’s patch: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ During the update process deactivate all plugins, deactivate the child theme if your using, just to make sure that there won’t be any conflict. After the update is completed clear all caches, purge the cdn if you’re using then test the site again.

Let us know if you need further assistance on this.
Thanks!

Hello Nordpresse,

I have checked again your website and I saw that everything works as properly. If you will receive this behaviour please ensure that you do not have any cache on your server. To be sure, please request this to the hosting provider and request to clear all of it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

Hello pixelonline,

The 500 error is usually a server side error meaning that there is something wrong but the server couldn’t provide more information about the problem. It is a general error usually caused by configuration issues with the websites programming, PHP or system permissions.
I found here some useful information about possible reasons on this errors and a few tips in order to fix it: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/500servererror.htm Also, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out conflicting plugins. Also, please try contacting the hosting provider, tell them this problem and they should be able to provide a more accurate response.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

I’m having some issues with the Mobile Theme Plugin, it doesn’t work. I’ve installed the latest version of your plugin (1.0) and then i set the settings but none of them works. To make matters worse even the images does not works.
That’s what i’ve tried to do: disable the cache, use regenerate thumbnails and re-instal the mobile theme plugin.
Here are the screenshot from mobile and PC:

No, you can code information but we maybe not. Hosting company explored the reasons. We closed all plugin and cache settings it didnt not work. Newsmag theme remove. I try different theme site normally work but newsmag mobile performans very bad. Newsmag maybe the best of theme but not for me blogger only developer and for those who have the knowledge of the code. If i know code maybe solve problem. If only tagdiv speaciel customer support. if only will update newsmag mobile versione.

Hi

I’ve checked your site and noticed that you have a very strong cache which may affect page’s content. The cache may come from from your server so try to contact you host provider and ask him if there is an cache on the server. The cache it’s very tricky, even if you deactivated the cache plugin some pages may still be delivered from cache. Try to enable WP Super Cache again and delete the cache a few times then test the site again. Note that WP Super cache is not fully compatible with V 4.6 of wordpress but you can use the fix from this topic as a temporary solution: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/mobile-theme-does-not-work-properly/

There is a big difference between mobile theme and the responsive theme. Basically the mobile theme load a simpler version of the page, fewer resources are requested and the page load faster. There is no support for shortcodes in mobile theme and when the server prepare the html it’s skipped a lot of php code from Visual Composer, the queries made to the database are fewer and the response time is smaller. Also page size is smaller on mobile when mobile theme plugin is active.
However the difference may be negligible if the site is not properly optimized. Our theme was developed to be fast but to hit a good score may be needed additional customization.

Check this topic for more details in page speed regard: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/website-memory-problem/ The thread is from Newsmag theme but the same applies for Newspaper.

For more details about mobile theme and how it work check this link: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ Basically the mobile theme works like this:
– on homepage displays three posts from featured category fallowed by latest article list.
– on other pages displays only the content from mobile editor.

When mobile theme is deactivated you will have the same content displayed on any device, there is no need and additional setup for the page.

I hope this helps.
Thanks!

Hello Moforka,

Please try to disable all the untested plugins if you are using something like that, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. Please check your hosting provider and request them to clear all your server caches. Also, if you are using the CDN system, try to purge all the files. It is very important to have the minimum requirements for your dedicated server for achieving best results in theme. Please check this to be in the parameters which are presented in our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks.

Hello,
Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it.
Then try to install a theme demo and see if the issue is still there.
Let us know how it goes and provide a link to your site if you still have trouble so we can inspect it.
Thank you!

Hello, i tried everything and even without any cache, any cdn and any extensions, it does the bug as you can see:

http://nordpresse.be/emmanuel-macron-demissionne-pouvoir-chasser-pokemon-a-laide-de-mouvement-marche/

It happens a third of the time with chrome and opera… I dont see why

Cache got cleared maybe. A strong cache will prevent any settings change until it;s flushed so maybe that is what happened here.
Thanks.

Hello

@Walter

The social counter is not a live count and is affected by cache. It will make a few requests a day and it will wait for cache to be cleared. Now it is working on your site: http://screencast.com/t/91NAszfpyo

@yesitsneuner

Please provide a link to your site and your fb page. There are pages that require a custom implementation in the counter (the numbered page id’s are a bit tricky as you have to enter just the number in the social counter)

Thank you!

Hi,
I just tested this method again and it works properly. Here is the code needed so you can simply replace all of the function: http://pastebin.com/8Th0pTS5http://screencast.com/t/Qca6RE8wl
Make sure you clear cache afterwards and not make the modification in the child theme as the entire wp_booster folder cannot be rewritten from the child theme.
Thank you!
