The simple way in this regard is trying to make a new clean install from scratch and install only the latest version of the theme on your WordPress and then you will exclude any conflicts.

Unfortunately from version 1.3 there is no way of updating and keeping any settings. Switching to newspaper 7 will be like switching to a totally different theme. You will have to add a bit of time and effort into re-creating your site elements with the new theme as compatibility between newspaper 7 and newspaper 1.3 is very limited.
Lots of things are different. I recommend deleting the old theme and installing the new one as a different theme. Automatic updates will not work with your version so you have to install the theme and delete your old one. Please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Please keep in mind that you will get this type of warning because the Speed Booster is not tested/incompatible with this type of plugin and that’s why you will receive this. The speed booster is an optional plugin and it is tested only with these plugins – http://screencast.com/t/hcjLnOqh4i2 and if you use other plugins it will be automatically disabled. A lot of people install the plugin without knowing what it does and after that, they add many plugins and some of them are not written fine so the developer took this decision.

If you want to always enable speed booster, delete this code from speed booster file: http://screencast.com/t/RZLIOPUNdqh

Please try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. I have checked your website and I saw that you have a problem with your mobile theme in that your featured images are not displayed. Please try to re-download the latest version of the theme which is still 7.3, but the fix was implemented after 7.3 was released. Please download the theme again, delete your current theme and install the freshly downloaded one. The version is the same but the fix will be present.
As an alternative here is the fix needed:
Add this code in the mobile theme’s function.php:
td_global::$td_options = get_option(TD_THEME_OPTIONS_NAME); //read the theme settings once

Please notice that what you want to achieve it is not a simple task, sorry! Each demo has an own style design with an own CSS code, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/waaYk9LkgEG If you want to have the similar layout for your website, I suggest you installing the Black Version of the theme (with/without content) and because what you want to achieve to adjust the Default layout to Balck version it is more difficult, require time-consuming, custom work and we cannot provide this type of services at the moment, sorry! Simply, you have to use our Black version.
