Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN system and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. If your problem is still there, please try to make a new fresh/clean install from scratch with the latest version of the theme using the FTP method and check the results.

The fix for this is quite simple. You need to update your social counter. The old social counter is not compatible with newspaper 7 so it got updated to version 4.1 Please disable your social counter and delete files from the plugins section of Wp and then install the new social counter from the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/Cmi2XwlLa

Steps to replicate issue on a fresh install:
Set up a vanilla site. Change the colour scheme from blue backgrounds and blue writing to say red or something.
You will see nothing will update the colours of the login modal in full screen mode. Only applying forced custom css will work.
If this is by design, great – but in version 2 some colours did apply.

Please ensure that you have updated your theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.1.1, Visual Composer 4.11.2 and Social Counter 4.1) only through FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. Visual composer had a few issues with version 4.5 of WP and it needs to be updated. The latest version of the plugin we provide is 4.11.2 Please download the theme from themeforest again and install the plugin from the main theme archive. Hi! After installing the 7.1.1 version ot the theme, I found a strange greenblock in the upper right corner of the mobile menu:
I have tried it in a number of mobile browsers (including default android) – it is always there. I think it is a sort of a bug. Do you have an idea how to take it away?

Please try to make a new fresh/clean install from scratch and check the results. Clear all your caches and use only the plugins which come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
If you need more assistance in this regard and if your problem is still there, please provide your website URL so I can inspect it closer and also, so I can identify the source of this problem. If you do not provide your website URL, I cannot help you because I have tested on my side with SAY WHAT and I cannot recreate this issue.

The theme create Featured category when it is installed for first time. The code which generate that category is located in td_first_install.php file: http://screencast.com/t/iSvZkyr8t There are defined the name and slug for that category which are used in code for different features.
You can use below code in function.php file to define a new category

I am not sure how you want to use this new category but to achieve the same exact functionality as for Featured category are required lots of customization. Basically you will have to search in theme’s code for each usage of Featured category name and add in code a case for your new category.
This is a complex task which involve good coding skills in order to be achieved. Unfortunately we cannot offer customization services at the moment so if you still need guidance on this or you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.
To reduce the number of days considered by 7 days sorting you have to edit td_data_source.php: http://screencast.com/t/nkiFBNen6B and td+page_views.php: http://screencast.com/t/DhtmnFzEbh and update the indicated value.

Hello, I just installed the Newspaper theme and I set everything, but I’m having issues with the front page on mobile.
I have installed the mobile plugin and set a static front page, but it keeps showing latest articles on it. I tried deactivating and activating the theme plugin many times, it’s always the same.
How do I set the front page on the mobile to keep the format of the one on Desktop and loose the latest articles?

Whenver this has happened to me, I’ve ended up reinstalling the plugin from the relevant version of the theme.
Just re-install; It’s normally sitting under ~/newsmag/includes/plugins/js_composer.zip
NOTE: MAKE A FULL BACKUP FIRST
Copy the plugin to your wp-content/plugin root directory and unzip it there.. All should be good to go afterwards

Today I thought it was a good idea to install a new demo template. But after this everything is going wrong.
The menus in the theme panel is for 50% broken. If I select for example “theme colors” and select some menus, the all collapse with “-1”.
I can’t edit anything in the theme menu.
If I go to ads, the menus are working, but the last couple of menu’s in the ads section is broken, same result “-1”.
Also when I save another footer, half an hour later it takes the demo settings again. So my settings saved is no 100% action. Saved the footer for the fourth time and now it works.
Another weird notice was after installing the demo layout it was auto posting blog posts from the theme demo. Also after deleting these posts they were installed again, and again and again, till I switch to the wordpress standard theme and switch back. Finally the autoposting is stopped.
But I think there is something not good in the theme. Before switching to the travel layout I have problems.
Latest theme version installed, system status everything green and working.
After searching for hours I can’t find anything wrong.

Hi,I’ve purchased & installed Newspaper theme from themeforest & now when there is a message that
“Hola! Would you like to receive automatic updates and unlock premium support? Please activate your copy of Visual Composer.”
And when i try to activate it says there is no license, purchase one.
What should i do?
I could not install it because the theme does not have the style.css required to install.
where do I find the child theme to install?
I’ve recently bought Newspaper7 and installed it on my wordpress website, but everytime I try to edit anything within the theme, messages like this appear: Cannot load td_theme_panel.

This issue is due to the fact that the theme does provide a black version, but visual composer elements are stand-alone and are not affected by the theme style. THe masonry grid is one of these elements. Styling is added by visual composer and the text is being changed due to the black demo. Visual composer elements do not know which style you use so the color cannot change based on the demo installed. Unfortunately the masonry element has no background options. In this case you need to use a css trick to do it.
Please use this code in the theme panel custom css code:

Please keep in mind that Visual Composer come bundled with our theme and you will have to use only the version which comes with the theme to achieve better results. Our latest version of the theme is Newspaper 7.1.1 and the right version for required plugins are -> Visual Composer 4.11.2 and Social Counter 4.1. First of all, you will have to delete the old version of Visual Composer from the Plugins area and then install the VC from the Premium Plugins area, which comes bundled with the theme.
Please notice that the Visual Composer is fully tested with our theme and works as expected.
