Hi,
That error is most likely caused by insufficient memory, not the actual theme update
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
– http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/fix-wordpress-memory-exhausted-error-increase-php-memory/
Check the theme system status panel, if needed contact your hosting and ask them to increase the WP memory and other paragraphs as mentioned in the guide (or higher WP memory if possible)
Thanks
Hi,
So by having the theme and only theme plugins active, the error begins to appear. While before there was no problem running the website. Basically the theme requirements are these
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-requirements-for-newsmag/
The theme and theme plugins would function correctly in those circumstances.
I found these guides you can follow to try and debug this problem, there are more
– https://websitesetup.org/error-establishing-a-database-connection/
– https://www.wpkube.com/how-to-fix-error-establishing-database-connection-in-wordpress/
– https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-debug-the-wordpress-error-establishing-database-connection
Let us know what you find.
Hi,
Please check the theme system status panel
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-requirements-for-newsmag/
In some cases the 500 errors were caused by insufficient WP memory, try increasing the value if needed. You can increase it more then in the guide if possible. Then install the theme again by FTP
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/
Update the theme plugins as well. Let us know the results.
Thanks
Hi,
So before updating the theme and composer there was no problem, and after the update there is an overload. That should not be, if anything it would be better since we removed an additional plugin (multi-purpose) and included it’s features in the tagDiv composer.
Maybe this is a server limitation, please check the theme system status
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Check if the same thing happens if you only have theme plugins active, with no theme modifications made.
Thanks
Hi,
If the page was built with the tagDiv composer there would be no problem in that regard.
The first thing to check would be the theme requirements, system status section
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
It is imperative that the parameters mentioned in the guide are configured properly. Insufficient resources can cause many issues with the theme or the plugins, if needed ask your hosting provider to increase them as specified.
If there is no need for modifications in that matter, in some cases the solutions from these topics worked for blank pages and other composer problems, you could give them a try if possible
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/gray-page-tagdiv/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/javascript-error-td-composer-wont-load/
Additionally try deactivating all plugins as a quick test, leave only theme plugins active. Check if this has any effect.
Let us know the results after trying these suggestions.
Thanks
Hi,
If you cannot access the backend, only with cPanel or FTP would you be able to deactivate plugins. Then you should be able to access WP-admin
– http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/
The HTTP 500 error was fixed in some cases by increasing the WP memory according to the theme requirements or higher if possible
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Check the theme system status panel, see if there are enough resources. Contact your hosting if required, ask them to increase them if needed. Also maybe they can check the error logs, to see what has caused this problem. Let us know as soon as possible.
Hi,
That would be just one of the problems. Try to use the header search function, related articles section also is not functioning and displaying correctly, the author avatar is not displayed as well. These issues are happening on all of the posts I tested and category pages, the homepage works properly.
I would suggest that you first deactivate all your plugins except theme plugins, clear all installed caches or server provided, clear CDN as well if used. If you enter any code in the theme panel (custom code ad codes etc) temporarily remove it. The same for theme modifications if you mad any.
Additionally check the theme system status panel
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If needed ask your hosting provider to increase the allocated resources. Let us know the results.
Thanks
Hi,
So you cannot enter the form code in the newsletter, or set a custom title and description for the newsletter. Please first check the theme system status panel
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If needed ask your hosting provider to increase the parameters mentioned in the guide. Then check if this solves the issue. Many composer and theme problems are caused by limited insufficient resources.
If there is still a problem, try as quick test to deactivate all your plugins except theme plugins. Then test the composer and newsletter on a new page. Let us know.
Thanks
Hello easthulk,
Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized. Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services are not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit our requirements.
Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. If you want to read other views from our users, please check this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tip-how-to-easily-minify-your-css-without-breaking-your-site/
One of our top members here on the forum wrote his own optimization tutorial here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/ and here -> https://www.infophilic.com/get-almost-100-pagespeed-newspaper-theme/
Basically, these are the theme requirements
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Thanks for your understanding!
Maybe you are not updating the theme plugins besides the theme. There could be problems if you only update the theme and not the plugins. All of those errors are related to the composer.
The latest theme version provides composer version 2.3, this composer is created specially for this theme so in combination with the theme it should not cause such problems. Most of the problems we identified so far were with server configurations.
However updating the theme should not cause such complete website crashes. Why were’t you able to access the dashboard, what ere the errors? What were the identified causes, or what did your hosting deactivate in order to fix the problem? We had no similar reports regarding the latest theme update from our users. Of course exceptions can happen. I will pass any information you can provide to our developer team. The composer has been improved significantly over previous versions, it will continue to be.
Check the theme system status panel, the requirements are here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Maybe also maintain a local copy of the live website and first test updating the theme there, to see the results.
Hi,
First please make sure you are installing the actual theme zip file, not the whole theme package
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
The theme file is located inside the full package you download from themeforest
– https://www.screencast.com/t/YAstK6bLp
Also make sure the max upload size is not smaller than the theme size
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
These are the installation guides you can follow
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks
Hi,
@stijnleblansch So the composer worked before and now it will not function correctly. It would be important that you use the latest theme version (8.7.4) and also latest plugin versions (the tagDiv composer is now 2.3). Your website seems to be redirecting here
– https://fruittr.com/
There were many improvements made in the theme and also the composer over the last few updates.
First try to use the composer on a new page, to see if it is something specific to one or a few pages, or something more general.
Most important are the allocated resources. These can be seen in the theme system status panel
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If those parameters are not set according to the requirements, there could be problems. If possible and if needed increase them, or contact the hosting to increase them. Then check if the problem is solved.
In quite a few cases the solutions from these topics worked for blank pages and other composer loading problems, you could give them a try if possible
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/gray-page-tagdiv/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/javascript-error-td-composer-wont-load/
Thanks
I thought you were decided to request a refund. We will try to help you with the problems you are having.
You simply have to install the theme, we have these guides
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Be sure to check the theme system status panel after installing it. There are theme requirements in terms of WordPress and server that should be set. If needed contact your hosting provider for help
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Then install the demo you want. Choose with or without content
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
With content the homepage of the demo will be provided. You can edit that homepage and configure the elements to display your own content instead of the demo content.
Without content the demo homepage will not be provided, you will have to build it with the tagDiv composer.
Let us know if you have problems and we will try to help you.
Hi,
So when the cache plugin and Yoast are active the website is broken, that is unusual. Could you please try as a quick test to deactivate all other plugins, leave only theme plugins active, the cache plugin and Yoast. Clear the cache as well. Check if the website displays properly. Let us know.
Also take a look at the theme requirements, insufficient resources can cause problems
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Thanks
Hi,
That message you are receiving is a WordPress message, not coming from the theme. Admins have access to all the settings of the website, so if you are the admin the problem is caused by something else. I found some topics you can follow
– https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/fix-not-allowed-access-page-error-wordpress/
– https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/247039/how-do-i-fix-the-sorry-you-are-not-allowed-to-access-this-page-error-i-get-on
– https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-overcome-this-error-in-WordPress-Sorry-you-are-not-allowed-to-access-this-page
The theme activation is in no relation to that message. If you do not activate it, there will be a constant notification displayed as you write or edit posts for example.
Also be sure to check the theme requirements panel, for optimal functionality
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Installing a demo is possible in 2 ways. Either install it with content (this will import the demo homepage and dummy content, theme panel settings etc)or install it without content (it will not provide the homepage, the rest will be the same).
Installing it with content will require more work from your part. The homepage will be provided just like in the demo, but it will display dummy content. You will then have to edit the page and edit blocks, grids etc to display your own content. Also set your own menus, logos etc.
Another way would be to install the demo without content, and instead of rebuilding the homepage copy the homepage structure of the demo. Like mentioned in these topics

Hi,
The best and also most recommended method to update themes is by FTP. Most reliable also
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
That error could be caused by permissions
– http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-fix-file-and-folder-permissions-error-in-wordpress/
Or maybe it could be caused by insufficient disk space on the server, or exhausted memory
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Thanks
Hi,
That would be a very old version of theme, if I understand correctly you are still using theme version 6. It is always recommended to keep both WordPress and the theme up to date. Updating just one or none when updates are available is not the best practice.
Much has changed in the theme since then. Please check the changelog at the bottom of the theme presentation page
– https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Update the theme by FTP if possible, that would be the best method to update. Make a backup before updating
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
A thing to note is that once you update the tagDiv composer (introduced in 8.0) will be automatically activated. Visual composer elements in pages may not display properly if the tagDiv composer is active. Deactivate it and leave Visual composer (now named WP Bakery page builder) active. Update Visual composer and there should be no issues
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Be sure to check if there are sufficient resources allocated for a optimal performance
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Check the theme system status and if needed ask your hosting provider to increase those parameters.
Le us know if you encounter any issues and we will try to help you as best we can.
Thanks

Hi,
The first thing to check would be the theme system status panel, check if there are enough resources
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If needed ask your hosting provider to increase the parameters mentioned in the guide. Insufficient resources are the usually the cause for theme panel issues. Let us know if there is still a problem.

Hello emssp,
Provide your website URL so I can take a closer look at it. Also, before this, you should check the following useful guide from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello Brian,
Ensure that your system status parameters are correctly increased according to our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Hope that help!
Thanks.
Hi,
Please check if the composer has been updated automatically, it should be version 2.3 after the update. Deactivate it and re-install it from here if it’s an older version
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Cs5jJPhJq0n
Additionally check the theme system status to make sure there are enough resources
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Let us know the results.

Hi,
When clicking on the edit content button the text editor should open
– https://www.screencast.com/t/p9XbLq3IZZD
– https://www.screencast.com/t/m3985nzfepN
And there you should be able to edit the text, close the window to save it.
If this is not working for you, then the first step would be to check the theme system status panel
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If needed ask your hosting provider to increase the allocated resources. Let us know the results.
Thanks
