Just installed newsmag to a managed wordpress hosting from godaddy.

The version 4.4.4 of Visual Composer is the latest version tested and included with the theme files. We’re testing the plugin latest version, if everything is ok we will include it in the next update and only then you can update the plugin by downloading the theme latest version.
Before an update please make a backup of your current theme installation, so you can revert back to them if something goes wrong. The styling modifications or options from Theme Panel should not be affected by updating your theme, only if you have custom modification to the theme’s files you will need to re-add them as when you update the theme these files will be overwritten. I have cleared the cache as well as browsing history of my browsers… on chrome and mozilla it’s not working but on safari it does.
I feel some where in the site code their is any error or issue. because i installed some plugin which were only supposed to work on responsive layout only (Sticky Social Sharing Button) but it was showing up in the desktop view of the site as well. I tried the same plugin on another site of mine it was working perfectly as it was supposed to work.
I am not a pro programmer but I fell their is something wrong with the responsiveness of the site.
If you want I can pass you the credentials so that you can look into the codes.

Hi, I can’t seem to install the WPBakery Visual installer plug-in and don’t see it at all with either creating/editing pages or posts. when trying to upload the JS_composer.zip it gives me the the message “Failed to write file to disk.”

We’ve purchased Newspaper 4 theme, but there is a small hiccup. After a year of operation site has become unbearably slow on relatively powerful hardware and with relatively modest load (70 concurrent users).
We have accumulated about 5 thousand articles most of which are in a single category, though we are using tags (which causes another funny side effect – thousands of cache update operations through terms_cache almost on each request).
Nevertheless, I have to give you a baseline. We’ve changed hardware over time in search of performance, so to be totally syre, we set up an empty virtual box (4GB TAM, 2 core CPU, 60GB SSD on DigitalOcean), simple LAMP server, a copy of our site and even then we were unable to get pageloads under a second (though all other plugins were enabled).
Next move was obvious and as follows (ensuring nothing beyond content, Newspaper theme and Visual Composer is present within installation):
a) Set up a new WordPress instance.
b) Populate content from production site (use wp-cli to update all links).
c) Add default Newspaper 4 theme and its default child theme, select latter as site theme.
d) Install visual composer (as recommended by theme).
d) Enable everything and set a few things up, so menus and category pages are as in production.
As a result all pages are being generated in approx. 1 second (1.09±0.13s; out of 100 measurements; page generation time), which is obviously not good enough, since under even moderate load and because of other plugins which are essential to site this time tends to grow.
What are your recommendations to gain significant performance improvements? Of course, enabling w3 total cache solves this problem for unauthenticated users, but we heavily rely on authenticated ones, so an advice would help.

I tried this:
– deactivating all plugins without Visual Composer – no results
– cleared the cache, even minification – no results
Maybe the problem can be caused by not being able to update the visual composer. I still have version 4.4.4. Always I deactivate, delete and reinstall as said in documentation the upload stops at a specific point and not ends. After a while I get information to update again. It’s weird.

Sorry for the delay!
This warning refers to wordpress’s files so make sure you backup your database and files: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups then test this on a fresh wordpress install. If you still get this notification afterwards also contact your hots provider and let him know about this and ask if they have made any modifications to your host configuration or if you have access to the error.log file check it, you could find useful info there or ask your host to look into it.

Firstly I wanted to say thank-you for a great theme that both looks and functions so beautifully.
I have 2 questions please:
1. I have installed the “more articles” feature which works great but is very large – on a mobile screen it takes up the whole screen (so none of the original article can be seen) and cannot be closed because the close button is above the screen. Is there a way to make it function better for mobile and smart devices?
2. How do I install the ticker feature?

I have a huge problem now with the Smart snap – (mobile) option in header.
Correct me if I am wrong… Smart snap – (mobile) option is used to show the sticky navigation header menu only if the user scrolls the page up… and it is only supposed to work for Mobile devices.
In my case when I activate the Smart snap – (mobile) option, the navigation hides on desktop/laptop as well which i fell it should function in that way? Right??
I tested the site on Mac as well as windows on (Chrome and Mozilla) browsers and faced the same issue.
Apart from that…
If i am installing any plugin which is supposed to work only on responsive layout such as social sharing plugins sometimes it automatically starts to work on desktop/laptop.
I tried few different plugins and i had the same issues with them.

I installed this theme on an existing small website (http://www.kesenangan.com). For most of my questions I find solutions after longer searching but there are still two problems:
1a. In my main menu both the home-symbol and the arrow symbols are not displayed. I already cleaned the cache but nothing happens.
1b. As I visit my website via my mobile the menu is not working at all. The menu symbol is given but without function.
2. The three boxes on the right are not styled correctly. The headlines are insert to the left (or the images to the right). I not use a custom stylesheet even it is not displayed in the editor.
Maybe someone has a hint or solution for at least one of this problems.

I was impressed with your wordpress newspaper theme and bought it. But as soon as we installed the theme, the site went down as there was so much pressure on our dedicated server. we reverted to our old theme and tried again. But the same happened. Please advise us what to do.

Try uploading it by itself via FTP; delete any old versions in your plugins folder.
Once you activate it on the plugins panel in your WP install,
simply go to your appearance > widgets
then put the widget into your applicable sidebar
then in the widget settings put in your social media accounts per the instructions there.

Do you have any css customization?
If you use latest version of the theme(4.6.3) did you update from an older version? Di you used patch or a fresh install?
I can provide you css to fix this, but may cause cause another issues if you have custom css or did not updated properly. Also please first check this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and check if you still have these issues.

Make a backup of your current installation, so you can revert in case something goes wrong and make a fresh theme install, connect via FTP remove theme’s folder then upload the theme’s files (don’t overwrite it).

The theme doesn’t output automatic the og: meta data information, but you can use a plugin for this. We recommend to use this plugin WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin because is the best for SEO. In two menu sections I have a wrong sidebar appearing in the Latest Articles part.

It just duplicates the sidebar in the top part of the page.
Actually I had kind of the same problem when trying to use two youtube videoplayers in one page. The second would fully copy the content of the first one in spite of the settings which seemed to stay unchanged.
The first thing that springs to mind, is that we are using the child theme (as we plan to make customisations). Could this be the reason that those lines in functions.php are not taking effect?
Edited to add: we have not yet made any code changes at all – this is a fresh install.

Not sure what the issue is as every site makes these connections per IP so please ask your host provider to give you more specific informations related to this so we can check and give you a more accurate answer on this.
For the sharing system image issues please make sure that you install and use the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin which automatically adds open graph meta tags to your featured image, used by the fb sharer to determine which image to grab. Make sure you use it then check your posts using this fb debugger tool to fetch new scrap info and test again: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

Well, I think this is covered in the them docs, but once you install the theme, you need to use the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin (not included) — this sets all the image thumbnail sizes for the theme, which may be different sizes than from your prior theme.

edit 2: and I guess they got rid of the “why don’t my images fit” topic that was once in the docs. Guess they are rewriting everything to make it better and dumped some of the oooold stuff.

I am not sure what happened. I updated to 4.22 and install the new updates from newspaper updates. Now the thumbnails all show broken links. However, it seems working for my iphone but not in desktop computer. I am not sure what showed in your end but could you help?
