Just did that myself and it worked. I guess when I went through the nonsense of downloading, installing, and authenticating the Envato Market installer, which is one of the ways TagDiv suggest you update a plugin, I expected it to take care of all of the related plugins.
Is there a specific document that clearly states all of the things you need to do when upgrading? All plugins that need to be disabled, removed, uninstalled, and re-installed? I’m already doing the Visual Composer dance every time, but if I need to be doing that for a bunch of other plugins it would be nice to know…
hello.
my issue is that auto-generated excerpts are not coming out in the rss feed for some reason.
scenario 1: a manual excerpt is typed in. rss will pick it up. no problem
scenario 2: i change wp settings to full-text instead of excerpt. rss will pick it up and display full text. no problem
scenario 3: i enter nothing in excerpt and get no automatic excerpt in rss. it is blank with only a link to the post / page. this is my problem.
ive tried toggling the excerpt mode in newspaper from letters to words and it makes no difference. ive also disabled every plugin i use except for tagdiv speed boost, tagdiv social counter, wp visual composer. doing so did not resolve the issue.
here is a link to the post: http://ouchmyego.com/podcasts/beyond-black-rainbow-just-watch/
here is a link to the rss feed: http://ouchmyego.com/feed/
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
First of all: Wonderful job guys with the new theme. It looks amazing!
I’ve upgraded from 6.5 to Newspaper 7 and I was using the Classic Blog theme.
I’m using Style 11. My website is 101zap.com
After the upgrade the logo on the top is not centered anymore, it’s displayed on the left.
Do I have to install/upgrade the theme from 7.0?
How can I fix this?
Did I did something wrong?
Do I have to update Visual Composer as well ?
Hello Tagdiv,
I had updated my blog to Newspaper 7. Simply, Awesome!!! I need some help regarding the following issues.
1) How to display the Back to top button in mobile device also. By default Back to top button is hidden in Mobile layout.
2) I tried Mobile Layout. It is very good. But My blog mainly depends on the pages created using Visual Composer. So I disabled it for now. Is there any chances for bringing the Pages to Mobile theme?
3) Icons in the entire blog are missing when I use Mailchimp forms by Optin Cat (https://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp-wp/) . It was working fine before. Any Fix for this?
Thanks.
Hi Bogdan
Thanks for the follow-up emails, much appreciated. As instructed I have deactivated, deleted and reinstalled both plugins from Newspaper\includes\plugins folder. And have activated both. Additionally I have copied the code from the stack and inserted it into the htaccess file.
Unfortunately nothing has changed. Social icons still remain confabulated. The good news is that I opened a new page and successfully used the Visual Composer to place an element.
As for the message else, a rss or another plugin and id does not create the main body classes needed for the demo. I cannot find the single or page classes anywhere on your site. I have no idea how that has occurred as I used only your theme. I have absolutely no idea where to start to rectify the problems
Bob
Hi Bogdan,
I’m not a beginner in web development. 😉
But I disabled all plugins except visual composer V4.11.2 and tried the exclude and include filtering, to check if one of them will work, but it’s not the case.
We don’t have any CDN or Caching Plugin running in our development environment, so that here are no worrys.
I also tried to reinstall the visual composer plugin that didn’t helped.
Hi, thanks for your reply, I made a new wp installation within a sub-domain (with only the visual composer plugin active) and it works fine with demo content, now, what does it means? I can not re-build all the site in this new installation, it will cost days of work. How can i fix my old site?
Best
Hi,
Back then the option for ALL elements was not present ion VC/ Now it;s the default value and we figured it;s not necessary to add it anymore, but if this proves to be the wrong decision, we will add it in.
As for the design options there is a solution. Please follow this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/visual-composer-design-options/
Thank you!
Hi
Sorry for late replay, we somehow missed thus post.
We manged to find a temporary solution to hide the activation message for Visual Composer using this css in wp-admin.css file: http://screencast.com/t/212AkOEIL
.vc_license-activation-notice{
display: none;
}
Thanks!
Hi,
Please disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. This is most likely a plugin conflict.
Thank you!
Hello fajrialhadi,
If you have the mobile theme plugin installed, when you access your Backend, the first editor refers to Mobile Editor, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/zAtWOmb4 and then when you scroll down on your page you will see the Visual Composer editor, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/MJhylybrzE7n So, if you will disable the mobile theme plugin, you will have only the Visual Composer editor. If you are using the cache plugin, please try to clear all your caches and check again the results. I suspect that it is most likely a caching issue.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
Hello,
Yesterday I bought Theme “Newspaper 7”. After installation I see big problem with WordPress 4.5.2. Unfortunately your theme not support this version wordpress in 100% at Chrome. (Firefox is OK)
Disappeared pictures from all the elements created by the visual composer (my test website http://nascenie.info)
Could you tell me how to fix this problem, please.
thx
Peter
Hi
I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’re using an older version of the theme: http://screencast.com/t/Xfl726Qg3R After WordPress updated at V 4.5 there appeared a jQuery conflict in our theme. We fixed this conflict and the current theme version available on themeforest works fine, also we included last version of Visual Composer plugin.
Try to update the theme at current version avalable on themeforest, also update Visual Composer at V 4.11.2 following our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ deactivate all other plugins, clear all caches and test again.
I hope this helps.
Thanks!
Hello Arafat,
I have checked your website and I saw that you have a js error in your console, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/r4lmTNBsimT Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all you cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. I have tested on my side and the pagination works fine.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding
Hey Bodgan,
Thank you for coming back to this.
As I said: Happened despite a complete re-instal for reasons unknown to me.
I recall quite similar issues way back where there were elements that went AWOL and there was a thread:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/missing-elements-visual-composer/
As Alin wrote in posting #77225 on Nov 3, 2015 at 9:28 am:

Hi,
I will add this on our list to be specified in the documentation how to enable all Visual Composer elements, as I see that many users have this issue. Glad that you managed to solve this!
Thanks!

Oh and by the way that nagging VC message persistently staying in the dashboard which I mentioned in the same thread (posting #77430) is STILL there after… I don’t know… 10 updates and at least complete 5 reinstalls of theme and all plugins:

All the best,
– Frank.

Hi Bob,
After updating the theme, please also update visual composer: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ and also the social counter plugin using the same method. You need to have visual composer version 4.11.2 and social counter version 4.0
The icons in the top menu and the footer have the issue described in the topic I posted above. Please add the code in the htaccess file as the topic suggests but do not copy the code from the forum. get it from stack exchange.
As for the demo, if there is no error then it means it installed properly. the main problem is that your content is getting served through something else, a rss or another plugin and id does not create the main body classes needed for the demo. I cannot find the single or page classes anywhere on your site. Hre is your site’s body tag: http://screencast.com/t/6INPVXIoVlI
here is a normal wp site with our theme’s: http://screencast.com/t/OgvnrU1KnLru
There are lots of classes that do not apply on your site.
Thank you!
Hi
Try to deactivate all plugin except Visual Composer, clear all caches and also check the if the css from custom css affect search bar style. Inspecting your site I’ve noticed that you have lot os css in theme panel ant this may affect some of theme’s elements.
Thanks!
Hi,
The mobile version should not display in the desktop version as you can see on our live demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/.
Please disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then test your site again and let us know if you still have issues with this.
Thank you!
Hello valerianidesign,
Please ensure that you have right installed your latest update via FTP according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ Also, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. If your problem is still there before after these changes, please try to make a new install within a sub-domain only with Visual Composer and check how it works.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
This did not happen on our end so that is why we did not include this as a must. Until now we have no reports of the new blocks having to be activated from the plugin settings. In the latest version of the visual composer plugin (4.11.2) you can select all elements to be active: http://screencast.com/t/TL8j5r0iXbU
This is the default setting unless you switch to ‘custom’.
Thank you!
Hi,
The scrolling is very ‘hard’ on your site but that does not come neither from the browser nor our smooth scrolling option from the previous version of the theme. This is most likely a plugin that causes it. Please try to deactivate all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Thank you!
Hi
Make sure that you’re using V 4.11.2 of Visual Composer which is tested and works fine with V 4.5.2 of wordpress. Here you can check our update documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ After WordPress release V 4.5, Visual Composer V 4.9 or older won’t work properly because of a conflict.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have made custom pages using visual composer. But these pages no longer appear in the mobile there. I understand that the mobile theme does not support visual composer.
But is there any way that I show the list of posts from certain category in the mobile pages instead of a blank page.
Hi
Please make sure that you have enabled all elements in Visual Composer settings: http://screencast.com/t/wijJbxUmyL6S clear the caches then test again. If you still can’t find new elements in VC editor try to update the theme via ftp as it’s the best way of making a clean update: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks!
OK – All plugins except visual composer currently disabled. Cleared cache, not using CDN. Same three problems as above.
