The theme code was tested and optimized for best performance, we have a lot of clients and the theme works well on a large variety of hosts.
First, please make sure that you use the recommended server configuration for Newspaper theme, you can check our documentation for more details: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

There are lots of factors that influence the site’s page-sped. I suggest you first try this without any other plugins active, leave just VC plugin active the check again.
To improve your server response time you can try to reduce the number of queries (fewer plugins, fewer blocks on page, reduce the elements which use ajax requests/pagination like mega menus/load more/infinite load), also consider using a cache plugin, we recommend the WP super cache plugin with the following configuration: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
To improve the loading speed look the MySQL query cache: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/query-cache.html we also use it on our demo.

Also, you can use the speed booster to move the js and CSS at the bottom of the page, eliminate render-blocking, but not for all plugins. Check the System Status if the speed booster is active if you use other plugins than the tested ones. Please provide more details regarding the facebook issues. Do you refer to the Social Counter plugin? Please make sure you use the latest theme version 6.6.3, then deactivate and delete the Social Counter plugin – http://screencast.com/t/4f9ZPR9sNl6Y and install it again from here so you will make sure you use the latest version – http://screencast.com/t/ioeIReUJ4

Even if you use a parent category the child categories will not appear automatically using ajax, they have to be added manually to appear. So please check block settings and remove thos ids – http://screencast.com/t/0SNBIfoVy

Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and in this case, you should rule out the conflicts between plugins. Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, disable all the minification files, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and try it again. I have checked your website and I saw that your Facebook from social counter does not work properly and also I saw that you have an old version of Newspaper (6.2) Please make sure you have these requirements before further investigation is required:

1) Please make sure you have the latest theme version: 6.6.3. If not, you need to follow this guide to update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

2) Having the latest version of the theme is not enough if you do not update the social counter as well. You need to remove the current version you use: http://screencast.com/t/4jvRwNzK and then install the version of the plugin that comes with the 6.6.3 theme: http://screencast.com/t/9AKKURjTjX
You can recognize if you have the correct version of the plugin when you see the new app key settings: http://screencast.com/t/CIXxklBanNl If you do not have these settings in your social counter it means you do not have the correct version.

3)You need to follow this guide to get the requirements from facebook:

Please keep in mind that the social counter is not a live count. It will update once every few hours.

Once you followed all the above steps properly and made sure you have not missed anything, (and the social counter still does not work), then you can send an email to contact@tagdiv.com with your login information so we can further inspect the issue.
